Sophs: Week of 2-10

This week?

All classes should have read the Famous People section of  The Greatest Generation for Monday's class. You should have your chapter summaries done, too.

Depending on your section color, you may be having a vocab quiz on Monday or Tuesday.

To finish this unit of literature, we will study the two American anti-Transcendentalists writers, Nathaniel Hawthorne and Herman Melville.

For Wednesday's class, you should read the short story "The Minister's Black Veil" by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Prior to reading this story, you should read pp. 270-271 in your book. We will then watch a video of a Hawthorne short story called "Rappaccini's Daughter."

COMPLETE The Greatest Generation for next Tuesday, February 18. Of course, again write brief chapter summaries.

Next week we'll watch a video that discusses Herman Melville's Moby Dick.
