Vocabulary Unit 7: All Classes Post Here!













Post BEFORE CLASS ON Monday ten (10) sentences using ten different vocabulary words correctly, giving a context clue to the meaning of the word within your sentence. You will be graded on the quality of your sentences. 

Rows 1-3 should work with words 1-10; rows 4-6 should work with words 11-20.

Your context clue should use restatement, contrast, or inference (see p.7  of your vocab book if you need help with these).

Of course, identify yourself according to your first name, last initial, and section color.

e.g. Usually slightly nervous and uncertain, most ninth graders entering St. Mark's are somewhat taciturn during their initial days in school.

12. Some of those models they use for eye make-up commercials are so garish and flashy that I am compelled not to buy the products just so I don't look like them.

13. The suspect's wife made an illusory call from the police station, pretending to be calling from work to check on her husband, but in actuality was working to obtain incriminating evidence from her husband.

14. After watching "The Blindside," I don't think Michael Oher was as much an indigent, needy person as just a homeless vagabond crashing on people's couches.

15. Her birthday party was far too inordinate and excessive for just turning fourteen; I expected a small gathering with just a few friends, not a huge, extravagant party.

16. If I was on a boat where you were only allowed to have one thing and would have to jettison everything else, I would throw everything but my favorite book overboard.

17. It is quite a challenge getting misanthropes to donate to charity organizations, especially because Scrooges like them feel as though they owe nothing to anyone else.
