Blue Class--Vocab Words Unit 6


Write 10 sentences using words from unit 6 correctly, giving context clues to the meaning of the words.

Due for class Tuesday, February 1.

1. After all of my friends went to the mall without me, I truly felt like a derelict.
2. Sometimes it's difficult to talk to my friend about God because she's such an agnostic.
3. After badly losing our softball game, our coach provided nothing but a diatribe for our team.
4. Sometimes my parents rules seem so inane and idiotic.
5. Apparently it was so obvious that they liked each other, that it was indubitable that they were going to go out.
6. Even though my friend Emma and I don't get to talk everyday, we still have intermittent conversations.
7. It's difficult being the neophyte, but you have to start somewhere.
8. I'm sure it's sometimes annoying as the president's daughter, considering the fact that you're under constant surveillance.
9. When reading a story, it's always important to know the motif because it makes it easier to understand what's going on.

4. People may say the motif of great classical pieces of music is defined by the composer. I say it is defined by how annoyed the players are when they first see it.

1) In the novel, "My Fair Lady" two gentlemen take a women from abject poverty and groom her to fit in with the upper crust society.
2) In all branches of the armed forces you can be dishonorably discharged due to derelict of duty.
3) During war time, or other times of civic unrest it may be common to burn or tar-and-feather an unpopular political figure in effigy.
4) It is quite difficult to understand the inane mumbling of children at times, especially when they speak loudly or quickly.
5) Every law and order episode has an indictment segment where the presumed guilty are sentenced in court.
6) Arguing with my mother about my curfew is a rather moot point; I will never win that battle no matter how hard I try to fight it.
7) My first day as a neophyte driver was both exciting and nerve wrecking as I was driving my father's brand new car home from the DMV. No pressure.
8) The school students are kept under constant surveillance by the cameras situated throughout the building.
9) Her testy personality makes her difficult to deal with at times and puts much strain on both personal and professional relationships.
