Soph Lab Day Part II- Friday Oct. 1 (not a journal)

SOPHS SHOULD WORK ON THIS IN THE LAB ON FRIDAY AND COMPLETE BEFORE MONDAY MORNING. THIS IS NOT PART OF YOUR WRITING JOURNAL.

Read over your classmates' conceits from any one of my three sophomore sections.

Briefly tell me which one(s) do you most enjoy? What two things are compared? Who is the author? Just a few sentences will do.

My favorite conceit was written by a person I do not know but it was very interesting and catchy. It was written by mm blue. In the conceit, it describes how he/she compares life as a maze. It describes how your life is from the beginning till the end of your life. Very descriptive.

I enjoy the conceit comparing life to an ocean. I love the diversity of the subject and how the writer chose a broad topic to compare. The ocean is vast and there are so many variations of the ocean, like the Alaskan waters and the Caribbean. The author is GB blue. I like how he added animals of the ocean into the comparison as well as the type of waters. Overall he did a very nice job at writing this conceit creatively.

The Conceit that I most enjoyed was NS yellow’s. NS compares life to time, which I thought to be very interesting. Life is never waiting on us we are waiting on it. Time may seem to o fast or slow, but in reality it is always the same speed. Time is important to our lives because without time we would be chaotic and confused. I never realized this until now and from now on I will always think of time as a luxury that we either have or we don’t have

I enjoyed EVL Yellow's conceit because it was very clever and unique. The two things the author compared were life to a poker game. EVL made many great comparisons like how you don't know what kind of hand you will get in poker or how your opponents play which he said was like making new friends and you don't know how they will view you. Another one I liked a lot was RS Yellow's conceit comparing life to baking and how you have to measure things out right and such so that you make good decisions in life and the right choices. These two conceits were really clever and really caught my attention.

When I was reading the conceits, one really stuck out to me. It said life was like a box of tissues, by Lisa Malatesta. I never thought about it that way but it really is true. Sometimes you mess up, but after that you get a clean start (a new tissue). And other times, you keep messing up and you run out of chances (you run out of tissues). As sad as that sounds, it really is true.

My favorite conceit was by AllisonB from the green class that compared life to a pair of shoes. I like the idea because some of their comparisons seemed real to me like when she said “sometimes people are even envious of your pair of shoes.” Which is saying that some people are envious of your life.

Aub said that life is like a coin, once it is spent its final and you can never get that coin back. I like this conceit because its very true. Once you make a decision you can never get it back, its done, final, and over with. This applies to everyone and it really makes me stop and think about each and every decision i make in life.

My favorite conceit was written by KB Yellow. The conceit was about how life is like a jigsaw puzzle. It explained how in life somethings just go together like groups of friends, or even 2 people. It was a clever idea.

My favorite conceit was written by KAW yellow, because she explained life like a sports season. In many ways that she explained it, life is very similar to a season in sports. From the practicing in the beginning to the end of season, and life itself, life takes on many similar qualities. Her conceit opened my eyes to view life not as a game, which is how I explained it, but more like the entire season.

I like MM blue’s conceit about life being like a maze. Her conceit not only applies to her life, but to everyone else’s as well. Finding your way through life really is like finding your way through a maze. This conceit was very unique and captivating. Great job, MM blue!

One of my favorite conceits was the one that life is like the weather.I like the comparison about how the weather changes and that like the weather, our emotions changes also depending on the day. The metaphors of being dazed is like snow or when you have a gut feeling and it's like dark clouds filling the sky gives it a very interesting picture. AA Blue gave very good descriptions on how the weather can compare to life.

There are many good conceits, but my favorite conceit would have to be the one by KS blue. It is about how life is like a fast-paced football game. I like this conceit because it is true about life. It tells about the troubles and easy parts about life and most of all how you should never give up.

My favorite conceit is life as time by NS yellow. Life is really like time because things happen so quick and you loose track of things that are important. I like how they brought that out and showed the importance of living in the moment.

I particularlly liked the conceit by Andrew A Blue. This comparison was funny and I could relate to it. He compares getting in shape to getting braces. He says it hurts at first, but then it gets less painful. Also, he says after you get in shape and after you get your braces off, you still have to maintain your straight teeth and being in shape by a retainer and still working out.

"Life is like a coin; it can be spent any way you choose, but only once. After a coin is spent, it is final, just like in life when you make choices; there is no taking them back"

I like this new, interesting look at a coin because it’s true.
You can only spend a second of you life deciding how you will spend the rest of it.

At 12:55 PM, Anonymous JW BLUE said...

One of my favorite conceits is by VS yellow. “Life is like doing math homework.” I agree with this conceit because life starts out easy and gets harder, just like math problems. You have to build up different concepts so that you can work to get to harder problems. As a child, your parents are always there to help you and as you get older, you have to do things on your own.

Another conceit that I enjoyed is by SD yellow. “Life is like a journey; you don't know what the end results will be, but you know it will be long, and at sometimes, difficult.” This conceit is really well worded and very true. When you go on journeys, you never know where you are going to end up and just like life, you never know how you are going to die or how God plans your life to be. My favorite part of this conceit is when they said, “Everyone's journey is different, but we all have one.”

My favorite conceit is by DMD Green. It is about comparing life to a flower. I like this conceit because the author accurately compares each stage of life to the stages of growth of a flower. I also like it because it can really make a person think about how their life is like so many other things around them, such as flowers. This is my favorite conceit.

My favorite conceit was by Aub B in the green class. She compared life to a coin. You can spend your life wisely and to the fullest. On the other hand like a coin you could waste it away. I thought the comparison was perfect and very well thought out.

I thought they creatively compared life to riding a bicycle.

The conceit I enjoyed reading the most was Allison Blackwells. She She compared life to a pair of shoes. It says that shoes, like life, are bautiful and brand new in the beggining. As time goes on, the shoes get worn out and it is time for a new pair. This conceit was the best one I read.

She says how sometimes it's cold and not the way the beach is suppose to be, but you have to look beyond that and see it's beauty. She also says how the beach relaxes everyone. It was a very good conceit because who doesn't like the beach!

My favorite conceit was written by ATR Yellow. I like the fact that he compaired life to fishing. It makes sense because of how frustrating it can be to wait for hours and not get anything, and also how boring it is to wait as well. But it can also be fun if you get alot of fish. It is very close to how real life is.

MY Favorite Conceit was by NS yellow. They compared life to time. It showed how time can never escape us and sometimes we dont know how much time is passing. Just like how we dont notice life, and easily we can loose it.

My favorite conceit was by NS yellow. NS yellow compares life to time. Time is always constant. It moves at the same speed no matter what is happening around us. To most people time seems to be running fast or slow, depending on what they are going though. All the fun stuff in life seems to go by in a snap of a finger. While all the boring days seem to take forever. That time doesn’t wait for you. He wrote the conceit very well, but what I like was that it got me thinking. I even wish now I would have chosen time because it is such a good topic.

I really liked ca green’s the most because I thought her/his conceit, life is a box of crayons, was very well written, and it had a lot of imagination in it. She/He was very original when they compared life to a new box of colorful crayons. This person used very good examples that could relate to life unlike other people’s posts that were very vague and confusing. Out of all the other conceits, ca’s, life’s a box of crayons, was the most creative.

My favorite conceit was written by Rachel Sklar. In her conceit she compared life to baking. I enjoyed this the most, because in my opinion food is one of the best things God provided for us. So I feel that this comparison of life and baking is not only creative and “pearl” but pretty detailed as well.

My favorite conceit, of all the ones I read, was definitely SB yellow. In their post, they compared life to a chess game. This blogger reminded me how equally important we all are in life, and how we need each other's help to live.

I like JM yellow “life is like a bicycle.” They are comparing life in general to a bike. I like the comparison made on how when life’s tough you may shift into a lower gear. They don’t make the comparisons you would expect about training wheels and the stages of life they make deeper comparisons about the obstacles God throws at you. I also like AN yellow comparing their family to a minivan. It’s different than most people because they aren’t just comparing it to their lives but their whole family. Their writing is humorous and clever. I especially like the comparison of their sister is like a mirror, what you see is what you get. There were many good conceits.

I liked AmandW conceit about how people are like purses. She is exactly right when she says we judge people by the what we see, before we get to know them. When she compared the look of the purse for how we judge it, to how we judge people by the clothes they wear was a great comparison. It is honestly true though, because we all will see what someone is wearing and will be like oh well we don’t think that person is going to be like us cause they are wearing an outfit that is not like ours. She also compared how what is inside the purse describes a person a lot, but we can’t see the inside of the purse, kind of like how we need to get to know a person before we judge them. That statement is completely true too because it was what type of person that matters, not what clothes they wear, and what they look like. AmandaW’s comparisons are true and people should remember this when they see a person that looks different than them.

My favorite conceit was comparing life to a hockey game, by MTE Green. When I read it, I really felt that it did accurately compare the two. The beginning of your life is like training camp and you work your way up to the playoffs by being the best you can be. People will always try to knock you off your feet but you just have to be determined to get back up. If you try your best, you can end up achieving your ultimate goal which you will look back on forever; just like winning the Stanley Cup. This conceit was entertaining to read and made good comparisons at the same time.

My personal favorite conceit is AJB Green's comparison of "Life is like a Desk." It describes how people display what they want to be seen on the top of the desk, and they put what they dont want to be seen in the cabinet under the desk. Although the writing is shorter than some of the others posted, I believe it applies to many people's lives.

My favorite was life is like a sandcastle. Its one of those simple stories that we can all relate to. We've always had a day where it seems impossible to build and we've all had at least one time where you've built the perfect sandcastle. And we all have ups and downs, perfect days and bad days. I like it for its simple connection and how we can all relate.

I immediately gravitated towards RS Yellow’s blog “life is like a recipe”. My Italian family revolves around food and insists that I get more comfortable in the kitchen. My mom makes traditional meals and deserts weekly and knows the recipe like the back of her hand, and even creates new concoctions. However, when I step into the kitchen with a new recipe, calling for different ingredients, I get overwhelmed, and doubt my ability to cook successfully. It is the simple ingredients that make the meal and you may need to adjust the recipe to fit your taste buds. This describes life because you may need to adjust your goals or plans to achieve happiness. Once the meal hits the dinner plate, it taste great and you become full! I think this perfectly relates to life because once you accomplish your goals you feel full of joy and pride, which are key ingredients to life.

I personally enjoy the conceit by CB Blue who said that making a new friend is like buy a pair of shoes. I think it is interesting because these two things seem completely opposite, but when I start to read how they explain this conceit I start to reflect on my own life and how I make new friends. I feel a connection to this conceit because I do go through these same steps that were stated in finding a new friend and a new pair of shoes. So I would like to tell CB Blue, that I enjoy your conceit.

My favorite conceit was one written by someone I do not know. It was a comparison of life to a football game. The conceit was compared well to all the aspects of a football game by talking about all of the mistakes and obstacles we overcome throughout life. More than half way through a football game, you know the aspects you need to work on to help you win the game; while more than half way through life you have learned from your mistakes and are well prepared for the road ahead of you. Overall, I think that comparing life to a football game was very creative, and I think it compares very well in many ways. Great job !

I agree with KS blue because they make a great point that even though we were created by God we were still given free will and it is up to us what we do with that kind of responsibility. I don't think God had any part in the 9/11 tragedy and he should not be included in any of the discussions.

I really like the conceit by AJB green. The conceit really made me think about life being like a desk. They took objects that could relate to anyones like and brought them to a desk.

The conciet i enjoyed the most was AUB Green. She compared life to a coin. The line that stuck with me is that you can only spend a coin once, once you spend it you can't get it back. I thought she did a very good job at comparing life to a coin and I found it very interesting.

My favorite conceit was written by a person I couldn't figure out who;s name it was. But i chose their conceit, because it was very interesting and eye catching. The opening line was, “Life is a beach, I’m just playin’ in the sand,” which is sung by Lil Wayne. It caught my eye, because it's one of my favorite songs, so it made me want to read more. i like how they compared the sanding moving up and down under your feet like our grades, and teenage girls looking at tan skinny girls wanting to be them it related to my life well.

My favorite conceit was written by JM Yellow, it was "life is like riding a bike." I feel like this is a perfect example for me because I ride bikes. This conceit explains how the different choices you make are like picking where you want to ride whether its a dirt trail or a road. Also the conceit is about if things are going good for you you can shift to a higher gear. Or if your having trouble you can switch to a lower gear to help power you through your toubles.
