Soph Lab Day Part I, Friday Oct. 1---God's Providence (not a journal)

SOPHS SHOULD WORK ON THIS IN THE LAB ON FRIDAY AND COMPLETE BEFORE MONDAY MORNING. THIS IS NOT PART OF YOUR WRITING JOURNAL.

HOWEVER, YOUR ANSWER SHOULD STILL BE A MINIMUM OF 25 BLOG LINES OR 200 WORDS.

Listen carefully to this video (click link) of Mr. Jerry Falwell, a minister and founder of Liberty University; and Pat Robertson, a former minister and televangelist, speaking two days after the 9-11 catastrophe.

Both men had (Falwell is deceased now) strong, conservative, religious opinions: anti-abortion, anti-gay, and anti-feminists. Both men fought for allowing prayer to be said in public schools. The ACLU [American Civil Liberties Union, the group to which the men refer] fought to keep prayer out of public schools, so they were seen as enemies of God by Robertson and Falwell. This is just a brief summary to explain the political and historical context of the two men's words.

Here is a transcript of the video (with some additional words before the video begins):

JERRY FALWELL: And I agree totally with you that the Lord has protected us so wonderfully these 225 years. And since 1812, this is the first time that we've been attacked on our soil and by far the worst results. And I fear, as Donald Rumsfeld, the Secretary of Defense, said yesterday, that this is only the beginning. And with biological warfare available to these monsters - the Husseins, the Bin Ladens, the Arafats--what we saw on Tuesday, as terrible as it is, could be minuscule if, in fact--if, in fact--God continues to lift the curtain and allow the enemies of America to give us probably what we deserve.

PAT ROBERTSON: Jerry, that's my feeling. I think we've just seen the antechamber to terror. We haven't even begun to see what they can do to the major population.

JERRY FALWELL: The ACLU's got to take a lot of blame for this.

PAT ROBERTSON: Well, yes.

JERRY FALWELL: And, I know that I'll hear from them for this. But, throwing God out successfully with the help of the federal court system, throwing God out of the public square, out of the schools. The abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked. And when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad. I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way--all of them who have tried to secularize America--I point the finger in their face and say "you helped this happen."

PAT ROBERTSON: Well, I totally concur, and the problem is we have adopted that agenda at the highest levels of our government. And so we're responsible as a free society for what the top people do. And, the top people, of course, is the court system.

Robertson and Falwell are firm believers in God's providence--God as the provider and God as the punisher, too. They are not unlike the early Puritans in this way.

Comment on what they say. State your own opinion. Your religion is your own belief.

Complete and post before Monday morning. 25 BLOG LINES OR 200 WORD MINIMUM. This will be covered on the unit test on Tuesday.

I think what they said were right. God can give us grace and salvation or he could given punishment for the people who deceives him. In this case, God sent this as a warning for people who never listen to him and if the world continues on like this, there would be more chaos and disaster. I believed that God has the world in his grip and he could let go any time so we should appreciate and thank him for his glories.

I believe that our country has turned their ways from God. We say we are still a country based on what the constitution says. However the constitution was written and based on Christian morals and beliefs. As America stands right now we are far from being a religious or Christian country. The men that wrote the constitution were very smart and what they wrote for many years so why we decide to deviate from it now I am not sure.

Falwell and Robertson seem to be very strong followers of God. Their opinions about the 9-11 incident are of God’s justice for the sinners of the non-believers in our country. Falwell states that it is the ACLU’s fault because they fought to keep prayer out of Public schools and the court system backed them up. So God is punishing them for being thrown out of public schools. Also the abortionist are blamed to for killing God’s innocent creations, the gays are being blamed for denying God and having their own way of life. Falwell and Robertson both believe that 9-11 happened because the courts are trying to secularize America and God is punishing everyone for it. My opinion is I somewhat agree with Falwell because the courts shouldn’t be trying to secularize America. They should leave God alone and not try to turn everyone against Him. I think that anyone who is a believer of God should be aloud to pray in public schools because it is their religion and who are we to judge what is right and what is wrong. The abortionists and the gays should take some blame, but not a lot of blame because it is their life choice and they will be punished in God’s own way and they could also repent. So my opinion is that it is wrong for the court system to be secularizing God.

In this dialogue, these two men are both anti-abortion, anti-gay, and fought to allow prayer in public schools. They are saying that reason the 911 took place is because that God was punishing America for allowing gays, and abortions to take place. I disagree. Firstly, God does not bring forth terrotists attacks, the devil does. God may allow bad things to happen to good people, but He is not the cause of it. Secondly, although I agree with Falwell and Robertson that prayer should be allowed in public school and that abortions are wrong, I do not believe that those things were the cause of 911. One the reason that our God is such an amazing God, is because he gave us free-will. He allows us to do as we please even though He may not approve of what we do. He’s given us free will and it is our choice what we do with it, and we have to deal with the consequences of our actions; such as 40 million babies dying or many homosexual men and women dying early in their life from STD’s. I believe that it was the devil that brought on 911, and we can’t blame God or ourselves for that tragic event.

After reading this article, the first thing to cross my mind was that these two people are frankly, stupid. They cant stand the thought of people being different from them, so they have to find ways to blame them for all the stuff that happens to us. If they really believed in god, they would realize that even if god did not approve of these people, he would not have a bunch of innocent ones that have no affiliation with them die. If god loves us, as I am sure that these people believe, why would he not just kill the gays, and the abortionist, and the pagans? Because this was not an act by God, this was a bunch of pissed off museums, not God’s wrath. People who think like this don’t even really understand what God is. God loves all of us, he wants all of us to turn to him for salvation, but if he loved us, why would he make so many people die? That’s not showing love in anyway, especially since they people that they are accusing this disaster to have happened because of, are not even who he is killing! I’m sure that some of the people in those towers were more then likely gay, or abortionists, but not all of them, more then likely not even HALF of them. So why should innocent people suffer?

I believe that God does everything for reason. However, He does not provide protection and punishment for when people do good and evil. Radical Muslims crashed the plane into the Twin Towers because it as part of their faith to glorify their god. This act was their faith, not God’s punishment. God is a loving, kind, merciful God; not a angry, unmerciful, revenge seeking God. In this video, there are two men talking about this infamous day. The two men are Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson. Jerry believes that. “I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians, who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, are trying to throw God out successfully with the help of the federal court system, throwing God out of the public square, out of the schools. During the 9/11 incident people began to lose faith in God. They could not believe that someone so great, powerful and loving would do such a tragic thing. Why would God let someone bad happen to good and innocent people? People got angry and they started to accuse others. They blamed arborists because of the murders of all the babies, they blamed the gays and lesbians for dating of the same sex, and the blamed people who were of different religions than they. It blew everything out of proportion and this is defiantly not something that God would want. I believe that what you choose to take faith in is your own decision and that you should stick with your own beliefs. We should not be going out and trying to change what people think when it just isn’t going to work. When you try to do that people get hurt and wars break out. Sure, you may think that what your neighbor believes is the wrong belief in your eyes, but it isn’t in theirs and you should respect that. I believe that if people just respected what everyone else thought and had faith in, than the world would be a much happier place. ☺

I believe that about 10% of what Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson are saying in this video is true. I do think that America has strayed a little bit too far away from God and church. We have maybe become a little bit too worldly and secularized. It was the intentions of the founding fathers of our great nation when writing the Declaration of Independence and Constitution, to have God as a major component of our beliefs. We have drifted from this to the point where God cannot be spoken of in public schools. I agree with these two men in this aspect. What I do not agree with is blaming the 9-11 terrorist attacks on one specific group of people. Giving them all the blame is not right and should not be done, especially by a minister for that matter. If these attacks on 9-11 were direct acts of punishment by God for our actions, then the deeds that earned us this punishment would not be solely on the backs of the people in these groups mentioned by Falwell. Instead, the entire population would be at fault. Every human being is a sinner, nowhere near perfect, and this interview leads me to believe that these men consider themselves perfect. By no stretch of the imagination could that ever be the case, and that is how I feel.

I don’t look at my self as a very “religious” person, but I do believe in God.
Now I try not to be a bigot, but seeing things like this make me wonder “how narrow minded are people?” Jerry Falwell says, “And since 1812, this is the first time that we've been attacked on our soil and by far the worst results.” This is untrue; there was the first bombing attempt on the World Trade Center before this, and Pearl Harbor before that. Was it the gays that caused over 1100 soldiers and up to 90 civilians to loose their lives on December 7, 1941? No it was because the leaders of our country cut off supply lines to the Pacific, and Japan used the little resources they had to attack us. On September 11, 2001, a small terrorist group attacked us. Not the abortionists, not the gays, not the ACLU. God didn’t do this to us because of them either. This small terrorist group attacked us because our leaders were funding the dictators who were oppressing their people and country. I don’t condone the acts but it is not like we were minding our own business either. To think that God did that is backwards. That is the way people thought hundreds of years ago. Do you know what else they thought back then? People thought the world was flat. Maybe it’s time you changed your way of thinking.

Looking at this transcript and what these men believe is completely unreasonable. First of all, blaming people who make their own decisions in their own lives is no reason to take out the happening of 911 on them. They are merely human beings just like the rest of us in this world wanting to live their lives the way they want to. Just because they are different from the stereotypical people our world has created, those attracted to different gender and giving birth to the child they conceived, should be no reason to blame them for the destruction of our world’s trade centers. Saying God allowed the Twin Towers to be destroyed due to the people he, himself has created is completely ridiculous. No one should be blamed for the incident of 911 except for those who actually caused those destructive deeds to happen. God has nothing to do with this incident and I believe that strongly. What wrong have the homosexuals or morally “different” people done? All they are doing is being themselves and what God created and wanted them to be in our world. If Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson even knew a bit of what God is like then they wouldn’t have broadcasted their false beliefs on national television.

I disagree with Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertston’s opinion that that what people are doing to secularize our society is making God cause these things to happen. I do not believe that God would punish us in such a way. God is forgiving and compassionate. He wouldn’t cause the deaths of many innocent people just because a percentage of the population is doing things against him. I believe that God maybe will send us a sign or warning if he was feeling that he would punish us, before he would suddenly punish us. The ACLU should not be blamed for disasters caused by terrorism. They did not want this to happen, and they are just as devastated about the occurrences of 9/11 as the rest of the people in America. We are in some ways responsible for the choices of the people in our nation. We should work harder to make unmoral things like abortion, and gay marriage, illegal. However some choices such as choosing to be a pagan, or gay or lesbian, wouldn’t be fair to make illegal. People, as Americans, do have the right to choose. That is what we, as Americans, stand for. People move to America to be free and have the right to make their own decisions. This is a very confusing issue, and I don’t exactly have a direct opinion.

I do not agree with anything that Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell have to say. I do not believe that God had anything to do with the terrorist attacks of 9/11. I do not believe in a punishing God. He gave us free will to live our lives the way we want to. I do not see anyone as an enemy of God. Everyone has their own beliefs and that is why I do not agree with Robertson and Falwell about fighting for prayer in public schools. Not everyone in public schools has the same religious beliefs. Pagans, aboritionists, feminists, and gays have the right to make their own choices with the free will that I believe God gave to us. No one can secularize America, because there will always be people that believe in God. America is a union, everyone in the union is a member of the United States, whether or not someone believes in God. This gives no one else the authority to “point fingers” at them and blame them for anything that happens in the world. The attack of 9/11 had nothing to do with God. He did not punish America for the way some people live their lives. This attack was no one’s fault except the terrorists responsible for it.

In this transcript of the video God’s Providence there are two men speaking to decide weather the 911 attacks were punishment by God. The two men are named Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson. Mr. Falwell believes that God has protected us for these past 225 and now God has “revealed the curtain and allows the enemies of America and give us what we probably deserve.” Both of the men believe that the removal of God in public places plays a big part in these terroristic events. They also believe that the abortions of 40 million innocent babies contribute in this God-willed attacked, along with pagans, homosexuals, feminists, and the ACLU. Personally, I believe that none of this is accurate. God is a loving being who would never want a war between people. Even though God does not accept abortions, he would never wants thousands of people to parish for this. I believe that abortions are wrong also, but many people are pro-abortion. God is there for you when you need him, and you ask him for help. He would never want thousands of people to die on that day. Mr. Falwell and Mr. Robertson are wrong in my opinion, and if they truly believed in God, and his loving works, they would have never falsely accused him.

The conversation between these two people was about how all the different ideas and aspects of Americans such as gays, lesbians, pagan people and so on are causing God to turn his back on us as a community. I think that this statement is untrue and very controversial because God accepts us all as being different and doesn’t judge us based on our ideas. God accepts every one of even if we are gay or lesbian so I think this is a very mean and hurtful comment to make on people who truly haven’t caused any harm on us. They think that the different ideas of Americans cause God to turn his back on us but maybe it is actually humanity’s fault in general. We have been bossing people around and telling them how to rule their countries so maybe this is why they have decided to retaliate against us. If you turn the idea around and think if it were us, would we want to be pushed around by some other country and told how to rule ourselves. The answer is no, everyone seeks the same thing and this freedom. We have to learn to understand and respect everyone for being different than us and persecute them for being different and thinking different than we do.

There are going to be many different views on this video and the people in it’s views. I personally think that the views of the people in this video are wrong and arrogant. There is no reason to go and blame all of the deaths of 9/11 on the people in our country because of their views and beliefs. So what if someone likes people of the same sex as them or if someone wishes to have an abortion because they do not want the baby that is inside them. They have no right to say that abortion is wrong, what if the person who is pregnant and is getting the abortion is getting it because they were raped and they don’t want to have a rapists baby. I understand that they are pagan and they believe in God’s providence and all but still that gives them no right to blame the deaths of thousands of men and women on a certain group of people because of what they believe. The people that they should be pointing the blame on are the terrorists out in the middle east that believe that we should not be helping the Jewish people in Israel get the land that they deserve and keep. This is my point of view on Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson’s views.

I don’t believe fully in what they are saying. Praying should be in ever school, even public. People that believed kids should be taught about the church as a child founded this country and opened the first schools to do just that. But when Falwell and Robertson say that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians are all responsible for 9-11 I think that they are completely wrong. They are just trying to scare all of those people back into how they think people should be under God; just like the Puritans. They shouldn’t be forcing how people feel about each other to change. The pagans, gays, lesbians, and everyone else aren’t making God angry just because they don’t do what most people do. They can’t help how they feel. But when they fight for prayer in public schools I completely agree. Our faith is the dominant one and if we could ever get prayer into public schools we don’t have to make the kids that are of different faiths pray.

I disagree with their opinions presented in the transcript. I don’t believe that feminists, abortionists, or homosexuals are the cause of the 9/11 attacks. I don’t think God punishes us for things like that. Just because you are homosexual doesn’t mean that God is going to let things like 9/11 happen. I feel like God understands that we all have our own opinions and ways of acting, and there is nothing wrong with that. God created us all differently, with different qualities and beliefs, and he is not going to punish us. I believe that God loves us all equally, and beliefs like that won’t change his love for us. All of these types of people should not be blamed for the 9/11 attacks. The people are not that different than. The only thing that is different between us as Catholics, and the homosexuals, feminists, and abortionists, are their beliefs. We should not make it seem like they are drastically different than us when really, they are not. You can’t base the quality of a person by their beliefs. Sure, it is an aspect of their life, but we can’t judge them on just that.

I believe in God, but I don’t judge other people’s faith or religion. I wouldn’t want anyone to put me down because I’m Catholic, so why put down them. I try to practice my faith, but I can honestly admit I don’t always try my hardest. I believe men and women should have all the same rights and privileges, considering we’re all only humans. I understand where these guys were coming from, but I don’t necessarily believe in all he stuff they are saying. They are absolute fools for making such harsh comments about women, gays and ECT. People that feel like speaking in such a way are cruel and evil. They don’t understand how much impact their words have and need to start realizing that their words are not only heard by their viewers. I don’t believe that anyone is the reason for death or destruction in the world just because of his or her faith or personality. Everyone is, and always will be equal in my book.

I strongly disagree with the words of Falwell and Robertson. Their opinions about how the terrorist attacks happened because of gays, abortions, and feminists. This shows that they are discriminating against these types of people. They say that it makes God angry that we kill innocent babies, but really, they are not even living babies yet. It is the mother’s decision to do what she wants with her unborn child, and she may be making a better decision because she knows she could not give that child a good life. The opinions of these firm believers in God’s providence are merely unfair thoughts about the people in their own society. I believe that God loves each and every person equally. He does not discriminate against different types of people and the decisions they make for their own benefit. These people are not to blame for the attacks of terrorists; only the terrorists themselves are to blame. God is not punishing us. I believe that he had no effect over the various warfare acts. Falwell and Robertson have many of the same beliefs of the early Puritans; they believe that God is a provider and punisher. I disagree with their beliefs. God loves us no matter what.

The conversation between Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson is talking about an argument between them and the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union). The ACLU has a belief that prayer should not be allowed in public schools. Jerry and Pat believe that it should be allowed. They say that all the pagans, abortionists, feminists, gays and lesbians make God mad when they believe I abortion and kill 40 million innocent babies a year, have secularized America and have helped this happen. Since 1812, 225 years ago, God has helped and made America prosperous, and all of these people are throwing away what we have. They have made God angry and encouraged this to happen. We have been attacked in the worst way possible in our history in just one day. Throwing God out of our lives, our towns, our schools, and eventually our country is not one of our best ideas. I agree with Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson that these people have pushed out God and have encouraged this attack to happen. It is by far the most terrible thing to happen to us as a country. I wish that after this terrible attack, that these people would allow prayer in public schools.

I think that Jerry Falwell and Pat Pattinson were both frustrated about the 9/11 attacks. I do agree that they are both right on the idea that there was someone to blame for what happened on that gruesome day. As for blaming gays, feminists, abortionists, pagans, and lesbians for what happened is completely inappropriate. I know that in America everyone has the freedom to speak their mind freely but it is wrong to say things that are so rude in public. Everyone is aloud to have their own opinion but these two men went over the top when taking out their frustration. Both of these men strongly resemble Puritans from back in early American history. They believe that their religion is the only religion. They refuse to believe that other cultures and religions have the right to take part in their own beliefs. If any other people believe something or practice something that is just a little bit different from their own belief, it is wrong. Falwell and Pattinson also blame the federal court system on the 9/11 attack. Once again everyone is aloud to speak their mind but they also refuse to believe that the actions of the federal court system might be to try and make things better. Keeping religion out of political affairs could be a good idea to help keep everyone calm and prevent less arguments within they court system. Falwell and Pattinson both say things that make me angry but I won’t judge them on who they are, just on their opinions. I would have many points to argue with them about what they believe. Overall, I highly disagree with everything they said.

Their opinion just upsets me because I believe that everyone is equal no matter what they are. I don’t judge other people for what they choose in life, it is their decision and I have no control over that and I won’t try to change the way they think. I believe that everyone is allowed to freely express themselves even these nut jobs. These two men might have an opinion, but I don’t support them. When they say, “…monsters,” referring to the Bin Ladens and the Husseins, it makes me feel that they are using prejudice against the people who live in the Middle East. But everyone has evil in them and I just don’t like how these two men say what they say. I see everyone equal and I always will see everyone equal.

After reading the conversation between Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson I was kind of upset by what the two had to say about 9/11. I feel that the two men are very narrow minded in their beliefs and that they put the blame on people who had nothing to do with the attack.
In my opinion, God doesn’t discriminate against anyone, no matter if they are abortionists or feminists. I think that God wouldn’t punish his people for minor things that aren’t even that bad in the first place. I also believe that God wouldn’t, and shouldn’t, ever punish a woman because of her choice in life. If a women finds out she’s pregnant and she knows she can’t take care of the baby, I feel that it’s her choice if she keeps the baby or not. And the fact that someone would actually blame a terrorist attack on something like that is beyond me.
Lastly, I feel that the only people America can blame are the terrorists who destroyed the twin towers. As American citizens we should stick together and not be prejudice towards one another. We should accept each other’s beliefs and each other’s personal opinions. They are many different kinds of people in America, but we are all alike in the sense that we all live in the same country and want the best for our country. I guess what I’m trying to say is that, if we don’t stand together and accept each other our country will slowly fall apart.

I completely disagree with what Robertson and Falwell are saying. They’re saying that abortionists, gays, lesbians, and feminists are the cause of 911. I feel discriminating against these people is wrong. If they chose to be the way they are that is there decision not ours. Everyone teaches that God loves all people equally and loves everyone no matter what. It’s not right to say that the terrorist attack was a result of God punishing these people. Although abortion is killing an innocent babies life, it might be the right decision in the end. If the mother knows she cannot car for the child properly, abortion might be the best choice, instead of having a child have an unhealthy and not safe life. The terrorist attack was a deadly and horrible event. It made us Americans loose our feeling of safety and it caused thousands of people to loose their lives. I believe God would never punish anyone because of being gay or having an abortion. The terrorists were to blame for this attack not innocent people of the United States. Falwell and Robertson have the same beliefs about Puritans and are wrong with blaming others for this event. Even though it is only there opinion, it is still offensive to gays, abortionists, and feminists. Robertson and Falwell believe God punishes people and that is not the case. god loves each and everyone of us no matter what.

When I first read this I was a little shocked about how voiced Jerry’s and Pat’s opinions were. I think they are wrong for stating their ideas that offends others on TV. They are blaming anyone that has a different opinion or view then them for 9/11. My opinion that being different is good and that God excepts it. No one is “normal.” I think its ok if people are gay or lesbian or believe in anything they want to. I believe that God doesn’t punish us for having different views. He’s accepting and willing to love anyone that has different morals. God knows that not everyone is a believer of him but he still loves them and accepts them anyway. I think it was wrong of Jerry Falwell to say “I point the finger in their face and say "you helped this happen." This will upset the abolitionist, feminists, gays, and lesbians even more. They don’t need to be blamed for something that wasn’t their fault. Jerry and Pat need to be more excepting of people’s differences or at least learn to hold in their own opinion if they are criticizing people’s religion and morals. Next time they should learn to voice their beliefs in a way that won’t be offensive to anyone else.

My opinion is that the ACLU is not to blame for the 9-11 attacks. Although I as well as many other people do not believe in abortions, they are not to be blamed. The people that did this to us are terroists. Because of their wrong doings, people who are different: homosexuals, feminists, and pagans should not be critized. I believe that God does not punish us, we have free will to do as we please therefore incidents like 9 11 happen as a cause of humans not punishments. I think that God does love gay and lesbian people. I do respect and am okay with people who do not agree with me, but isn’t it against God’s will to talk bad about any group of people or not treat them the way they would want to be treated? It is so wrong to blame these groups of people because they have committed no crime, broke no law, and hurt no person. People who are feminists want equal rights, I do not think God would protest woman trying to be heard! And isn’t one of our greatest privileges religious freedom? So we do not believe or follow the same theries as the pagans, does that make them unjust, wrong, sinful? The catholic church teaches us not to view the Bible literally so my point of view is that God is not punishing us for anything. Whoever believes that is ok in their opinion, but that is not what I believe is right.

By saying that the pagans, abortionists, feminists, and the gays and lesbians were responsible for the terror that occurred on September 11, 2001 was absolutely absurd. Although the choices those people make in their lives defy God’s word doesn’t mean that He would punish us with a terrorist attack endangering the lives of innocent people. For these guys to state that proves that they have not found the true meaning of being a Christian, because in order to follow God you have to allow others to believe what they want to believe even if it is the complete opposite of your beliefs. Due to the fact that they were both very conservative Christians they became very close-minded and unwilling to accept any other reasoning for what happened on that horrific day.

Even though these men were very respected by many people and even had many believers in what they said I feel that their comments in this transcript disgraces the way God truly feels about those type of people. I know this because our God is a forgiving and loving God that is accepting of all types of people no matter their sexuality, race, or whether or not they are criminals, the only thing He sees in those situations are that they are people who need the right guidance which God is more than willing to give.

Jerry Falwell and Pat Robinson were two men who had very strong and conservative religious beliefs. Both were anti-abortionists, anti-gay, and anti-feminists. Falwell and Robinson both believed that all the pagans, gays, abortionists, and feminists made 9-11 happen. I agree with some of the beliefs that these men have, such as anti-abortion, but I do not think that these people made 9-11 happen. Falwell and Robinson both believe in God as a provider and punisher. Growing up in a catholic environment, I have learned that God is not a punisher. If God were to punish people, I believe that would be a sin, and God is totally free from sin. I also believe that Falwell and Robinson cannot point their fingers at these different groups for causing 9-11 unless they are totally free from sin, which they wouldn’t be unless they were God. I believe that God is not a punisher. If he was a puniser, Falwell and Robinson have no room to say that all the sinners caused 9-11 because they are sinners like every one else, and that would mean they are to blame for 9-11 too.

In the conversation between Falwell and Robertson, they have very strong feelings against things that I accept. They believe that the reason 9/11 occurred was because of all the pagans, abortionists, feminists, gays, lesbians, the ACLU, and People For the American Way. I completely disagree with that point of view. I believe that everyone deserves equal respect. To single different groups of people out is total disrespect when you have no idea of the actual cause. I agree with both men on the subject of 9/11 being a terrible event, but I do not like how they blamed innocent people. Everyone in the world has the rights to believe in whatever pleases them. That does not mean that everyone has to agree with each persons point of view, but everyone needs to respect it. I feel that 9/11 occurred because of the hate towards our country. The conversation between the two men made me a little sick inside to think that people could be so disgusted with a group’s beliefs. Most people in the world would agree with me, when I say that everyone deserves respect. Everyone is granted their own mind to think whatever they would like to think.

Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson are two constant believers in Gods providence. They both are religious men who feel that God rewards but also punishes people for there actions. Both men were anti-abortion, anti-gay, and anti-feminist. They even tried to take prayer out of public schools. Falwell believes that God does protect us, although also disciplines us. For instance the attack of 911 may have been a punishment from he Lord, from our bad doing. Robertson agrees with Falwell on this subject, and does believe that God may have punished us for our sin and disobeying of God. I believe that God is all-powerful and can do what he chooses, although I feel that he is a forgiving God and would not punish us for our sin against him. Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson are strong believers in the Lord, and are very passionate for others.

Based off of this conversation between the two conservatives after 9/11, I think that it is wrong that pagans, abortionists, gays, and lesbians, are trying to get rid of God in their lives. Robertson and Falwell believe that 9/11 occurred because of these people are secularizing God. I believe that this isn’t the reason this happened. Certain actions or voiced opinions done by people cannot cause the great impact that the attack of 9/11 caused. Also, people shouldn’t blame God for what happened either. God, to me, doesn’t punish humans. He is a loving God and would not do this to his creation. I think that ee bring harm to ourselves, through our decisions and actions. We, humans, are the ones with free will and choices. I think it is wrong that people are removing God from schools, and public places, too. Even though everyone doesn’t believe in God, I still think that religion is a freedom that everyone has. People have the right to voice their own opinion, whether it is right or wrong. I think abortions are sinful, but we can’t necessarily stop the people’s opinions. Whether their opinion deals with religion, abortions, same-sex marriages, they have the right to have these thoughts and opinions.

I also think that they are wrongly blaming people whose life style they disagree with.
They are using religion as a tool against others. Now I agree abortion is wrong, but to say it caused 9/11 is taking it too far.

I believe that this is a very complex issue. I agree that God has protected us for many years. The 9/11 catastrophe was a very sad and tragic event to say the least. However, I do not believe that this was God’s punishment. I completely disagree with the shortsightedness of Mr. Falwell and Mr. Robertson in their discussion of God’s part in the catastrophe. To believe that any human has the ability to determine God’s anger for instance over 40,000,000 babies’ abortion, as horrible as that may be, is placing him as a deity himself. The God that I believe in is very open-minded. Lifestyle choices did not cause the catastrophe in my opinion. To select highly controversial lifestyle choices as reason for God to use punishment is taking faith and religious belief way out of context. They are taking advantage of the public. I see both Falwell and Robertson as biased because they are using religion as a scapegoat for their opinions on the issues of abortion, gay life style, and feminism. My God is not a vengeful god; He is all accepting. The issues stated in their discussion are insulting and offensive to me. I do not believe they have any connection with the 9/11 catastrophe.

In my opinion, Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson are the epitome of hypocrites, and I do not use this word lightly. They are not men of God, they are just ignorant and power hungry. In the beginning, the men were talking about how the terrorists should pay for what they have done. After that, these men reveal their stupidity and narrow-mindedness for all to see. Falwell said God is letting this happen, that He “continues to lift the curtain and allow the enemies of America give us probably what we deserve.” Give us what we deserve? I don’t think the innocent people on the planes or in the World Trade Center deserved to be killed. Then, Falwell puts the blame on the ACLU, the group that kept prayer out of public schools. He continues to point the finger at the gays, abortionists, feminists, and pagans because they “helped this happen.” Terrorists were the ones on the suicide mission to kill Americans, not them. People have a right to love and believe who or what they want, it does not make them any less of a person if they do not believe in God, or if they are gay. Furthermore, Robertson does not say much in the video. He just agrees with what Falwell rambles about. I strongly disagree with Falwell and Roberston’s ideas because they are prejudiced and use those such as gays, as scapegoats. As a Catholic, which to some is considered a cult, I believe in love and equality for all, something these men obviously do not understand.

I strongly disagree with Falwell and Robertson’s point of view. There have been many disasters in America between the time of 1812 and now other than the 9-11 devastation. The two men place the blame on people just because they are not Puritans, just because they are different. Falwell doesn’t even mention the people who terrorized Americans, just America themselves. I do agree that abortion is bad, but these people are not responsible for what happened.

I also don’t agree that God is the reason for 9-11. It just happened. I oppose to his beliefs that feminists are in the wrong for considering that women are equal to men. I believe that we are all human beings and that there should be no limits on one particular gender. Placing the blame on others can show cowardice, because you are not recognizing your own faults.

I don’t think people like these are going to make a change; they aren’t going to persuade people that they are better unless they look at themselves and not at others to start changing. People who believe these things will need to stop pointing fingers and act on what they believe, and not in hostile ways, such as their words.

I think that our country has turned away from God. Back in the Pilgrim's day, God was everything. Our God is not a punishing God. If you sin, God isn't going to throw a lightening bolt at you, our God is good. I don't completely agree with what those speakers were saying, but God does everything for a reason. I don’t feel like 9/11 was God punishing us, it was him warning us. We have to keep our faith strong. After 9/11, a lot of people began to lose faith in God because they couldn’t believe that God would let this happen. They couldn’t believe that God let all those innocent die. Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson believe that this was the pagans, the gays, and the abortionist for 9/11. They said it was all their fault because they are going against what God believes. How do Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson what God wants for certain people? If I woman gets raped and becomes pregnant, why can’t she abort it? It was a sin for her to get raped, and she shouldn’t have to carry around the horrible memories of the attack around with her for the rest of her life. 9/11 wasn’t because of the gays or the pagans or the abortionist, it was because of all the common people losing their faith in God.

Robertson and Falwell are firm believers in God’s providence. God’s providence is God as the provider and God as the punisher. Jerry’s opinion of 911 was that God was punishing the world for taking religion out of schools and separating God out of peoples lives. He blames the federal courts and all those responsible for an alternative lifestyle like the abortionists, feminists, gays, pagans, and lesbians for contributing to this devastation. Pat Robertson agrees with Jerry and says that we are responsible as a free society for what the government does.
I don’t believe that 911 was caused by God. Pat and Jerry talk about how God has protected us since 1812. I don’t think that God would wait about 225 years to get revenge for the wrong that people have done. I also don’t think that God would do anything so horrendous to innocent people.
However, I agree with with Jerry and Pat that the government shouldn't take prayer out of public schools. The United States was founded so that people could have freedom of religion and speech. Who are they to judge what people believe? Just because their beliefs are different, doesn't mean they are wrong. Everyone is entitled to their own option, and God is the only person that can judge others.

I agree very much with what Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell are saying in this video. I was raised as a Catholic my whole life and have practiced prayer throughout my life. I think that prayer should be kept in the public schools because it allows those kids who want to have faith in God throughout the course of the day, have faith in Him. I know that in public schools there is a mix of religions; however, if the kids who are apart of another belief or who do not want to believe at all do not have to take part in the prayer. Additionally, I think that Jerry Falwell makes a great point about how taking out the prayer from the public schools is giving the message that alternate lifestyles are acceptable. As a believer of the Catholic faith, I do not believe in the gay or lesbian lifestyle some people choose. Also, I am Pro-Life, and I do not believe in abortion. In this video clip, Jerry Falwell explains his feelings about 9/11 and the abortionists in a metaphor. I agree with this metaphor because it makes logical sense. In the video, Falwell explains how the abortionists can’t get mad at God about 9/11 because when they decided to kill the life inside of them, God did not get mad at them. I agree with this statement very much because I believe that there is never any action too great in which God can not forgive. I always been taught that you can never lose God’s love, and that is what I believe. Finally, Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson make a great effort in standing up for their faith and beliefs in God. They make an effort to stand for what they believe and spread the Word of God, just as followers of Christ were told to live as Jesus did.

I completely disagree with the two interviewers, Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson’s opinion. I have faith that God always blesses us and will forever love his people, which is why I firmly believe that the disaster that occurred September 11, 2001 was not a part of God’s plan. I feel God is constantly present even in times of struggle. Sometimes we may not realize God is at hand, but with strong faith, we come to an understanding that God continually provides us with strength and guidance. I also confidently disagree with Falwell and Robertson when they suggest pagans, abortionists, feminists, gays and lesbians caused the worldwide disaster on 9/11/01. I believe in defending these people because I think everyone should be treated equally, regardless of their sexuality or religion. God loves all mankind and does not discriminate. Each person has a mind, heart and a soul, which should be treasured because God put you on this earth for a reason. In elementary school, parents and teachers always repeated if there is a fire, you should not waste time trying to save your toys. They taught us that the most important reaction is to escape the fire, reason being you can buy a new doll or toy, but you cannot buy a new you. I think everyone should have his or her own decision and their beliefs should be respected. The people who agree with Falwell and Robertson should put themselves in the shoes of the people blamed for the attack on 9/11. If I was in their shoes, I would accept respect and equality, this is what our fathers fought for, and this is America, Land of the Free.

I believe that they are right. God has the power to do whatever he wants. People always tell me that God does everything for a reason. Sometimes bad things happen so we can grow from them or have God teach us a lesson. He also has the right to punish us if we do something wrong. For instance, if we do not follow what he says he will warn us. And if we still disobey him then he will bring diaster. Like in the story of Noah's ark. When the people were not following God he decided to start over. So he wiped out almost all of the humans. Most of the time God uses his power for good. He only wants what is best for us and he is always looking out for us when we need him most. We should appericate God. He has given us so many wonderful things to be thankful for and we should not take them for granted.

I think that what Falwell was cold-hearted in his comments. He was cruel and did not consider the feelings of others when he spoke his opinion. He blamed groups of people who had no direct connection to the events that happened on September 11th, 2001, including gays, lesbians, and feminists. While I do not support the groups of people he persecuted, I also do not believe in unjust accusations. 9/11 was the result of horrific actions by a radical group of muslims who thought they were doing it for their "god". This had nothing to do with the groups of people Falwell so wrongly accused. His claims that removing God from public schools and government were wrong as well. He should have taken into consideration that a group of religious people settled in America and helped found the nation that were know today. If it weren't for God the America we knoe might not have ever existed.

So these two men, Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson, think that it is the gays, lesbians, feminists, abortionists, and the ACLUs’ faults that 9-11 happened. Are these two men crazy!? Who let these two freaks have television time to speak about their crazy beliefs? It might say in the Bible that God might not be all for homosexuality but that does not mean he loves them any less than anyone else. God loves each person equally and does not play favorites. This is neither the feminists fault either. Women are just as equal as men. The Golden Rule of the Bible is treating others the way you would like to be treated. 9-11 wasn’t abortionists fault either because, in my opinion, God needs some abortionists for examples to others that human life is sacred or that it shouldn’t be done. I’m not for abortion but humanity needs to make mistakes in order to learn from them. Prayer in public schools wouldn’t hurt but the reason you go to a private school is to pray and learn about God. The ACLU was probably trying to say that if you force prayer on them, it will cause problems. In my opinion, the reason 9-11 happened was because some crazy people, who thought their god, wanted them to do it I might add, decided to attack The U.S.A. because they didn’t like us or the way we lived. It irritates me so much when people are this dumb! God loves us more than anything; he does not give us consequences for our actions because he gave us free-will.

I think that everything happens for a reason. I do not think that God would punish us just because some people are gay or pagan. Yes, God might punish people if we sin against him, but I do not think that he would punish all of us just because someone had an abortion or if they are a lesbian. I don’t think that God would kill all of those innocent people in 9/11 just because of certain people. I don’t agree with what Pat and Jerry said. God made us all special in our own way, so he accepts us for who we are. We all have our own beliefs and our own certain things we believe in. I certainly wouldn’t want anyone to put me down because I am Catholic. Falwell and Robertson shouldn’t discriminate people because their beliefs are different. Everyone has a choice of who they want to be and other people shouldn’t judge them for their decision. It is a mother’s choice weather she wants to have an abortion or not. If she can’t take care of the child, then it’s for the best. Falwell and Robertson shouldn’t blame the 9/11 attacks on these people and they shouldn’t think that God is punishing those people.

I don't believe that God works that way, killing thousands of innocent people because of what the Catholic faith sees as wrong. I also do disagree with Falwell on some other things. Falwell and Robertson is very faithful and stay true to God, but there are some things that they take too far. Why is Falwell blaming the ACLU for this? What's the ALCU got to do with this? It's the way people think and act that affects our world today, not because of some civil group the society created. You can't forced christianity into people. You can't force or make people follow your religion, they have the right to live there own lives. We shouldn't blame the gays or the abortionist for this, they want to live there own life and I believed that it's fine with God. There are a lot of gays and abortionist who always stay faithful to God. The reason god had brought this upon us is because the world has turned away from God. Blame the people who turned there back on God who. Once accepted him but betrayed him later. Man bought this upon themselves. Take world war 2 for example; millions of innocent lives were taken. Why? It was not God who took their lives, it was man. Man decided that they can make the choices and they have complete power to do anything they want. Just stay faithful to the Lord and he will protect us and give eternal life to us. If not, he will bring darkness and destruction among mankind.

When I first started reading this article I could tell that these two men had very strong opinions about 911. They believe that 911 was caused by pagans, the abortionists, the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle. They both believe it was a punishment from God. I do believe that our country has turned their ways from God and that 911 could be away to steer us straight. But honesty I don’t think that God would do that. God works in mysterious ways, so maybe to some people this is a sign from God, but I don’t think it is right for Falwell and Robertson to blame people for it. It is their own lives and let them believe what they want. As long as they are living a productive and innocent life, I don’t think God would do this. They just need to stop pointing fingers at people. The people who caused it caused it. I am in the middle for this topic. I don’t entirely think that God did this to punish us and I don’t think that it wasn’t our fault. What remains is that 911 was a horrible thing and we should blame anyone for it.

Although we live in America and we have a right to free speech, I don’t believe what these two men said was fair to people who choose to go against the main stream beliefs. None of what happened on 9/11 was anyone's fault. It was the terrorists' will and the lack of security in 2001 that allowed this tragedy to occur. Not the fault of the feminists, pagans, abortionists, gays and lesbians in which God was trying to punish. I don’t believe that God would ever punish his people. I believe in a loving God. After reading this dialogue between Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson, I cannot help but disagree with their views on who caused 9/11 to occur. The ideas of God’s providence in the eyes of Falwell and Robertson are completely wrong. God is not behind evil, and He doesn’t make evil things happen to people. Yes, I agree that we haven’t been very holy or faithful to God. Even if we aren’t doing the right things all the time, God would never punish us with a terrible disaster that would hurt his people. Falwell and Robertson have no right to blame the public schools, the ACLU, the gays, the abortionists, or the pagans for the catastrophic event that occurred on 9/11. We cannot earn or lose God’s love. So even if we are not being loyal to God, He would never want to harm His people. Jerry and Pat cannot say that they have never made mistakes, and that they have always done the right thing. We all know that we make mistakes, and God forgives us for our faults. I think that Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson shouldn’t blame other people for the awful event that occurred on September 11th.

Although I may have been raised as a conservative, my personal beliefs do not jibe with the church’s beliefs. I think that their quick rationalization that all gays and all feminists and all people who are abortionists and the ACLU and pagans are bad people. In fact, I know a nice gay chef, a caring feminists and a number of good abortionists. I even know the nicest pagan you would ever want to meet. And I also believe that the ACLU is a fine establishment who brought up a valid point with the prayers in school. I believe that it is not fair to all the non christens who attend the school to be forced to pray to a God that they do not believe in. Now I am not saying that if a kid is caught praying that he should be reprimanded and punished; I think that prayer should be the responsibility of the individual, not the teacher.

After seeing this video I think Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell are radical Christians. But just like the radical Muslims who crashed into the world trade center they take it too far. They need something to blame the horrible event of 9/11 on so they blame it on those who are different than them. Falwell states “I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way--all of them who have tried to secularize America--I point the finger in their face and say "you helped this happen.”’ The Catholic Church teaches us not to view the Bible literally so my point of view is that God is not punishing the people for anything. Fingers shouldn’t be pointed at anyone but the terrorists for THEY are the ones who caused this, not punishment for the gays or anyone else. This tragedy shouldn’t be blamed on the gays, abortionists or feminists. Just because they did something not considered “right” does not mean God hates them. If God wanted to punish them, He would punish them directly rather than punish masses of people, many of whom are good Christians. Our God is ever loving and forgiving and should not be blamed for 9/11.

After watching this video I came to the conclusion that both of these men, Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson, are simply put, idiotic people. These men believe the tragedy that took place on September 11th was because God was punishing the abortionists, gays, pagans, and other groups which are frowned upon by radical Catholics just for being who they are. These men clearly do not understand that the people of America and the rest of the world have rights to be who they really are and they should not be labeled as terrorists because they don’t have the same close minded and stupid outlooks as the two men. These men need to realize that it wasn’t God who caused 9/11. It was people who drove planes into the twin towers. It was no “Act of God” to punish people who exercise their rights to be who they are. these men's radical views have nothing to back them up and they are frankly just being illogical.

Jerry has said that he feels that abortionist, feminists, gays, lesbians, and pagans are attempting to remove God from the United States of America. Both him and Pat Robertson believe that God used September 11th to punish those who are trying to remove Him from the US, they being stated above. I don’t believe that gays and lesbians are trying to remove God from our daily life. Practically all of the homosexuals that I know agree with me in my religious belief of Christianity. Why would Christians attempt to prevent other christians from enjoying the enlightenment of God in our lives? Though I do not fancy those who kill unborn babies, I doubt they are the only ones who have sinned in the world. Every one sins, and God wouldn’t punish the whole land for the sin of only a few people. Pagans, although not accompanying me in my religious beliefs, are still not the only ones to sin in the whole world. God gave us all free will for a reason, and he still loves all even if they don't believe in Him. Jerry and Pat's theory on this situation is incredibly flawed, but I continue to respect their opinion on the matter.

I do not believe what they say is true. They are just blaming the abortionists, gays, and feminists for causing the tragedy at the World Trade Center. They both want prayer in public school not considering all the different religious views out in the world. They believe that God is mad at all the sins the abortionists, gays and feminists are doing that God punished America because of them. That God has neglected us because of the sins we are committing. I believe in a God that forgives us for what we do. That God will never turn his back on us even if we do the worst things. That 9/11 was not the abortionists, gays, and feminists fault at all and had nothing to do with it. I do not believe God would want to cause such a tragedy like 9/11. I believe what people want to do and what they want to believe is not my right to judge or blame them.

I disagree completely with what Robertson and Falwell said. I think they are just looking for something or someone to blame the tragedy on. I personally think that God does not punish people for what they believe in or do. God would not have so many innocent people die just because all the gays & abortionists in the world. The abortionists and gays should not take any blame for what has happened. Robertson and Falwell are blaming them because they oppose of their beliefs. If they want to blame someone, they should blame the actual terrorists who did this. 9/11 was something that just happened, and nobody should be blamed because of their different beliefs.

I think it is the people like Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson that cause Afghanistan to attack us on 9/11. I do not agree when they say, “I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way--all of them who have tried to secularize America--I point the finger in their face and say "you helped this happen." It is because Afghanistan thinks were racist and do not accept different cultures and ethics and etc. By Jerry and Pat’s beliefs were giving the world a reason to hate us. God loves everyone in the world and so he is going to love you if you get an abortion or don’t believe everything your religion tells you to believe. If you accept god and the some beliefs of the church, its okay if you don’t believe in all of what the church says. I think the United States needs to open their minds up to different beliefs and what people do. They have their opions and we have ours.

For Farwell and Robinson to put the blame on one group for the 9-11 attack is wrong. I agree with them when they talk about the throwing out of God because in the years or so there has been a throwing out of God. Then again this is America, land of the free and home of the brave and being the land of the free you have the freedom to do, say, or beleive in anything you want. This is the reason I believe the 9-11 attacks happened because here in America we have alot of freedoms. In the Islamic countries they never got to experience the freedoms we get and they probably feel that the things we do in America are wrong. I also disagree with Farwell and Robinson when they say we deserved the 9-11 attacks. America is hated by alot countries mainly because of our success and most of the Islamic countries are 3rd world countries and they could be jealous of the success of America. I believe jealousy was the key factor in the 9-11 attacks

After reading the transcript between Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson, I both agree and disagree with there views. I mainly agree with there opinion that God is both our punisher and our provider and that he is able to reward us and to punish us, but God does not punish us with incidents such as 9/11 and we should not blame others in our country for the wrong doing of terrorists. When Falwell and Robertson talk about how 9/11 was God’s doing because of the gays, lesbians, pagans, and abortionists I disagree. God is not supposed to be looked at as a horrible punisher, he created all of us and he does not judge us on these things, we are all equal in God’s eyes. When they say that God was responsible for the making choices of the terrorists that destroyed the world trade centers they are making God into something evil and we know that God is not an evil creator. I do think it is wrong for people to go through with abortions, killing innocent babies, and I don’t think God wanted there to be gays and lesbians in the world, but he is not going to punish these people in a way such as the 9/11 attack. There are so many different opinions on all of these subjects but I stand by my opinion that God does not make the choices of those that choose to hurt and kill others in the world.

I would have to disagree with what these tow men had to say. I do not believe that God will cause harm to people for their sins no matter how great they may be. When the 9/11 attacks occurred the people who were responsible were not abortionists, gays, or pagans and we cant blame them for what happened on that day. God will not punish innocent people for the sins of someone else. Every person is a sinner and no one is perfect but God will not blame the world for the sins of one person. Everyone has the right to believe want they want and don’t think God would want us to force other people to be catholic. WE also can’t have prayer in public schools because there will many kids who are not catholic and this will upset many people. There are many people in this country that practice religions such as Islam and they do not pray the way Catholics do and they will take offence to the catholic prayers in school. Our country is supposed to have religious freedom but this will be forcing people to become catholic.

Both Jerry Falwell and Pat Robinson heavily believed that the gays, abortionists, and Pagans caused the 9-11 incidents because they were making God angry and that they are trying to “secularize” America. They also put the blame on the ACLU for fighting to keep prayer out of schools. From reading that, the two men sounded selfish and were blaming it on everyone but themselves. After hearing what they had to say and reading it I would have to say I strongly disagree. I believe that a group of terrorists caused the unfortunate events of 9-11, not the gays or the abortionist and that God did this to punish us. This is because just because the gays or abortionists are not following totally how God wants them to that God will punish us in such a way. I do believe however that we should not try to secularize America or turn away from god but I don’t think that we have to blame every person who is not 100% perfect Christian for every tragedy that happens in America.

The two men in this video both believe in God’s Providence. They believe that God causes terrible events, such as the 9/11 attacks, to happen because of the flaws in or society. Personally I disagree. I definitely think that God protects us from harm, but I do not believe that he would do great harm to us just because he is displeased. It is my belief that it would not be in God’s nature to severely harm and kill his people. I think that the attacks of 9/11 were the workings of the devil, not of God. The so-called “flaws” in our society do not affect God’s love for us. If God was displeased with the world, I believe he would guide and instruct his children to fix it. God does not teach his people to fix the world by allowing an attack to take place. I believe it is wrong and unfair for the men in the video to criticize those people in the society that may think, act, believe, and or do things differently than they do. Then in addition to that, I believe it is even more unjust to blame them for the attacks of 9/11. God gave us the free will to do what we want; however it is up to us to realize our mistakes, and ask for forgiveness from God. I do not believe that God is a punishing God. I do believe that God loves, and cares for all of his people on Earth.

In regards to the positions of Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson on the causes of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, I could not disagree more. I think it's ridiculous to blame 9/11 on the ACLU because, if you think about it, what did gays, abortionists, and feminists have to do with it? Would God really kill about 3,000 random people in the World Trade Centers, just because of the ACLU? If God was really that angry with the ACLU, why wouldn't the attack be directly on them? They need to take God completely out of the situation. It was, people, not God, that attacked our country. The idea that 9/11 was God “getting back at the ACLU” is completely absurd. In my opinion, while the war in the Middle East may have something to do with religion, it is people who do the fighting, not God. In regards to 9/11, I don't believe that God would punish people for what a different group of people did. It doesn't even make sense. A woman in California has an abortion so God makes terrorists crash into a building in New York? I think those two men needed to take a serious reality check at the time. In my opinion, I feel that it's ridiculous every time religion is brought into a debate. People need to realize they they control their own actions, not God. God is not going to punish a country by sending in terrorists to kill people, just because he's “angry” at the ACLU.

I think that they were saying the right thing. abortion is wrong we should not be killing babies before they are born. I can see why god would be mad at us for that. They are also right about the other situations and i think that god is warning that we need to obey him or things could get really bad. I also think that this might not be a sign from God at all and that it is just terrorists being terrorists. If it was a sign from God then why would he do it to americans and no other country? But i agree with most of the stuff that they are saying. we are definitely starting to turn our back on God and he is just trying to show us who is in charge and we deserve punishment for the things that we have done against God. I am not saying that the people in the tower deserved it but they were kind of used as examples for the rest of America.

After reading this conversation it made me mad. How people think God would punish us because we allow public schools to not say prayer, lesbians, abortionist and gays in our country. People aren’t trying to secularize God. This nation was founded for religious freedom. There are Catholic schools and Jewish schools. I think that its okay for public schools not to pray. A lot of different people and religions go to public schools. It wouldn’t be fair for a Muslim to pray to god he or she doesn’t believe in. I don’t like the idea of abortion but just because they kill something doesn’t mean they don’t believe in a god. There are Catholic gays and lesbians. God made the gays and lesbians there is nothing wrong with them. They didn’t chose the be the way they are it was just how God made them. To tell them to be straight is like saying “well God I didn’t really like Jeannette’s sexual orientation so I’m going to change her.”
God had nothing to do with 9/11. I believe that God doesn’t go out of his way to make a guy’s life miserable because he broke a commandment. Bad things happen to good people all the time. Yeah you can blame it on God but the truth is he didn’t do this.

I believe Falwell and Robertson are taking things a little to far. Blaming gays, abortionists, and public schools for 9/11 is very harsh. Yes, God can give salvation or punishment but God also gives us free-will. People may choose lifestyles in which He does not approve, but to take such a large amount of innocent lives is not the work of God. He loves everyone, no matter what. God is not vengeful, He is open-minded, understanding, and loving of all things. The tragedy of 9/11 was horrific and the work of something evil, something our God would not punish us with. It is offense to me the Falwell and Robertson would blame 9/11 on other people who obviously played no part in it. Abortionist, gays, pagans, and all the other innocent people they point fingers at, were not at all the cause of the catastrophe on September 11th. Their opinions are cold hearted and cruel. Falwell and Robertson had no right to falsely accuse God for the disaster of 9/11.

I think Falwell and Robertson have very strong opinions on what caused the incident of 9-11. As some believe the cause of 9-11, was because of God's Providence, I believe that to an extent, this may be right. God does control others and holds us and can help us make decisions, God doesn't punish us just because we follow the gays. I believe that God made us in the way we are today for a reason. I do agree that abortions are wrong and that it's one's opinion to pray and express their faith in whatever school you're in. Though I also believe it is someone's choice to have an abortion or pray. I also think people has the free will to express whatever they feel, though I disagree in judging people who aren't the typical stereotype. Therefore, I do believe God's Providence does exist.

They are not as close to God as they used to be. People are not listening anymore, they are just doing what ever they feel like. However, I do not believe that it is their sins that caused 9/11. I do not believe that God cause 9/11 to show that he is angry with us. I just think that is just a coincidence.

After reading this article you can tell that these two men are strong followers of God. These men also believe in a punishing, which is the reasoning of their opinions. They have taken the idea that God does not approve of homosexuality, abortion, etc. to an entirely new level. They say that all of these things are acts against God and that they have angered God, so in return God punishes us with the 9/11 attack. I myself strongly disagree with their opinions. If these two were strong believers in God, then they would know that in the bible God tells of his unconditional love for all man and how he forgives us for our sins. So even if Homosexuality or abortion was a sin, God forgives us for those sins. And I don’t believe God would punish us because he gave us the gift of free will. God gives us the choice to live the way we wish to. Falwell and Robertson’s opinions clearly contradict this which is why I believe them to be wrong. Yes I myself believe that abortion is wrong but I don’t find any logic in blaming them for the 9/11 attack. And though I find them to be incorrect, I still believe that Falwell and Robertson have a right to their opinions.

You can’t blame terrible events on people that obviously nothing to do with it. God would never punish innocent people for what others have done if he is in fact a punishing God, which I believe he is not. We as a whole country helped this happen not just one group of people. I am not saying that I think abortion is right but, have no right to decide other people’s lives. I also don’t think prayer in public schools is ok, because it is wrong to force religion on those who don’t believe in prayer.

I know that these two men are very religious and it is good to have strong belief but they have gone too far with everything they said. They blamed the terrible tragedy of the 911 attacks on America on gays, lesbians, feminists, abortionists, and pagans. And that’s just not right. I know that the bible is against things like that but I do not believe that God was punishing America because of those things. I do not believe that the 911 attacks had anything to do with God punishing anyone. I know religion is an important thing in many peoples’ lives but Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell got too carried away with it in this video. They also blame the events on the ACLU and you can’t just go blaming things this significant on just one organization. Just because they don’t want prayer in schools and they want to keep God separate from certain things doesn’t mean that they were a reason that our country was attacked. I personally have been through public school and know what it’s like to not have God be involved. I think it’s a good thing because, just like these two men, people have very strong religious beliefs. With there being so many different religions in America these days you can’t just for one specific religion on everyone who goes to public schools. That’s what having private or religious schools are for. And if you really get that upset about not being able to pray in school then you can send you child somewhere else. If you can’t afford somewhere else then just take the kid to church or where ever you practice your religion at. Even though this country was built with God in mind, that doesn’t mean that everyone has to have the same views on God.

I saw the video and understood what he is saying but I disagree with it. I respect that Falwell is a devoted Christian but I do not feel that God would punish the good people for what the bad people are doing. Its not that I agree with the gays and abortionists and what they are doing because I am definitely against what they do, but I don’t feel that it applies in this situation. I don’t think it is our job to try to stop these bad people from what were doing since it is in my opinion a lost cause and God will handle them in the end. I also feel like God was trying just trying to test our faith in this situation. Just like the story of Job, all of his family was taken but since he stayed faithful, God was good to him and blessed him. Everyone in today’s world always over thinks why things happen and don’t trust in God that everything will be ok. I feel like if we did trust in God more than things like this wouldn’t happen. Farwell and the puritan religion look at God as mean and as someone that has a temper but God is loving and understanding so that is why I disagree with what they’re trying to say.

Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson are two very opinionated men. I disagree entirely with everything that they are saying. Who are they too point fingers. They aren’t God and they will never know why God allowed America to be attacked on that terrible day. Everyone should take responsibility for why we were attacked. We shouldn’t point fingers at the abortionists, gays, pagans, feminists, and lesbians just because they chose to live a different lifestyle. Last time I checked we live in America the land of the free. I do believe that God was angry with America entirely not just ACLU people. Everyone makes mistakes, lies, and disobeys sometimes. We shouldn’t blame others for our own mistakes. I personally believe that public schools should have the right to chose whether or not they should allow prayer in school. The reason why we go to a catholic school is so we can pray and be close with God. Not everyone at a public school belongs to the same religion or shares the same beliefs, therefore they shouldn’t be forced to pray if they don’t believe or want to. If a public school kid wants to be close with God then he or she can go to church or read scriptures. No one should be forced to do anything that they don’t want to do or don’t believe in. That’s how I feel about Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson’s comments.

I think that what Robertson and Falwell about 9/11's cause could be true. 9/11 really could have been a part of God's providence. God may really be angry at us but I don't agree with their statement about the cause of our God's anger coming from people like the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians. Other than abortion, I don't think any of the things they listed are wrong. If anything, i feel that God would be upset about all the murders, kidnappings, and things like that. But, if 9/11 was really God's punishment for us, we need to start to change. We all need to try and learn to live better lives not only for our sake but for our country's too.

On some matters Falwell and Robertston are correct. Our country as a whole has turned away from God and their religion in general. Not all, but for the most part we all have. Most families aren't going to church or if they do its a struggle to get their children in the car without moaning ang groaning about how bored they are. Catholic Americans pull out God and their faith only on Christmas and Easter, but after those two major events you will never see those people again until the next year. God will always love his people but his attitude towards us can always change. This attack or punishment would be equivalent to a wake up call for some people. That maybe God is just fed up with people's greed and bitterness towards so many things that maybe we are being punished. But we can't blame a specific group for this punishment. Falwell shouldn't point his finger at the gays, lesbians or other organazations for this punishment. The only people we can blame is ourselves, each and every one of us should be at fault for this tragic punishment.

I don’t believe what Jerry Falwell and Pat Robinson say about the cause of the 9-11 terrorist attack. God does not allow or prevent things from occurring here on Earth. God has given us all free will to do and say what we please. Some people choose to do and say evil. Though that may not be part of his plan, he does not go around punishing the innocent because of things they had no part in. If Falwell’s and Robinson’s points of view are accepted, it suggests the child that gets a terminal form of cancer is somehow being punished for his parents’ misdeeds. I just don’t buy that line of reasoning. However, I do believe God makes the best out of bad situations. I believe Gods miracles were shown in the heroics and out pouring of caring and love immediately after the 9-11 attacks. That is more like the God I visualize - caring and loving - than what Jerry Falwell and Pat Robinson believe- a punisher of men that don’t think like they do.

On the morning of September 11, 2001, terrorists drove two planes into the twin towers of the world trade center; killing everyone on board the planes and countless people inside the buildings. People like Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson link these attacks to people like pagans, abortionists, feminists, gays, and an organization called ACLU that eliminated prayer from public schools. When Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson are having a conversation it is obviously that they very strong believers in God. Because I am a Christian, in my opinion, I think closely like Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson in the sense that all “those people” are at wrong. Although it might be true that those people are wrong, many people that worked in the twin towers probably were not alot of “those people.” Because of this, I am unsure that God would have punished everyone if he was only mad at the type of people mentioned in the video. If God were have been upset with those people, I believe it would have resulted in more of an event that was related to them instead. So in short I do not believe that you can blame ACLU or any of those people for that type of catastrophic event. There is just not a way to link ACLU, gays, lesbians, abortionist, etc. to the event besides saying that they “angered God.”

What I partially understood from this video was that these men were all for God, and that they believe in everything that God has to offer. Falwell and Robertson say that due to the outcomes of 9-11 that God is letting America be punished for one of its own mistakes. And by throwing God out of everything that we’ve been used to, (such as schools, public things, ect.) then that makes God angry. And Falwell is basically putting the blame on Abortionists, feminists, gays, and lesbians for not believing in God’s word.

I disagree with the opinions presented in this transcript from 9/11. I don’t think feminists, lesbians, homosexuals, and abortionists are the cause of the awful attacks that happened on this particular day. I don’t feel that God punishes us for that because God accepts us for who we are and what we have come to be. God accepts each and every one of us even if we are different from each other. God created us all different with different personalities and beliefs. I don’t feel that we should put other people down just because they may be different from some other people. I feel that what these two men had to say was very wrong and 9/11 was not a result of these peoples’ decisions. I feel that the terrorists were to blame for this accident because they actually committed the crime and caused such a disaster. I feel that as Americans, we do need to keep track of our actions and start acting in more of a Godly manner. But, I do not feel that these people were the cause of the 9/11 disaster. I think discriminating these people because they are different is doing more wrong than right and it makes our society worse. These two men had no right saying what they said because it was rude and these poor people weren’t the cause of this awful disaster.

I have to disagree strongly with what Falwell and Robertson had to say because of my religious beliefs. I do agree that God can and will punish people if necessary, but I don't think he would punish a whole country for the wrongdoings of a few. I strongly disagree with Falwell and Robertson because I believe that they blamed it on the wrong groups of people. Because it is wrong to be a lesbian, gays, feminists, and pagans in their own religion doesn't mean it is wrong to the people that in other religions. Their religion might disagree with things that other religions would agree on. It's just a matter of who and what you believe in. Living in America, everybody has the right to freedom of religion and it is up to that person to express it as they please. People should just remember that God can bless us, save us, but at the same time punish us.

After watching what these two men talked about, I was confused on how people could think that God would do that to us. I do not agree with Jarry Falwell and Pat Robertson because although our world has drifted a little bit away from God and the church, I know that God wouldn’t punish us for something stupid like that. I think what they said were wrong because God would not punish us for something that abortionists, gays, and feminists do. After the 40 day flood, God promised Noah that he would never punish the world for what a group of people did or how they did things. Even if God did, why would he only punish Americans when there plenty of other people that he could punish for this. God has always protected us and he promised to never harm us. The gays and lesbians are not the reason for 9/11 happening and they didn’t even help it happen. God is here to help us and save us, not to punish us for the way that they were made or the wrong that we do. Everyone makes mistakes and God knows and helps us through it all. I believe that everything happens for a reason, and that God has a reason behind everything, but I know that God wouldn’t do something that tremendous to us just for punishment on us.

I believe that Falwell and Robertson are self-deluded maniacs who let they're pompous beliefs get in the way of basic rational thought. Their opinions involve bitter hate for their fellow man and disrespect basic freedoms that all human beings should have. They envision a society where there is no opposition to their authority and where their opinions are superior to all others. These are sick individuals who deserve no rights if they want to take rights away from others. If there really is a God, why would he punish his own people, what purpose would this Supreme Being have for doing such a thing? Why would he torture his creation into thinking one way? Regardless, the philosophy of Falwell and Robertson is backwards and an abomination to everything this country was founded upon and lives for. America is founded upon freedom, and the discrimination that Falwell and Robertson believe in just has no place in modern American society these days. Homosexuals and Abortions do not cause people to fly planes into buildings, its religion and the psychotic doctrine that drives it. Thankfully most people do not buy into 700 club style of Christianity, however the numbers are swelling. Words can make us saints, or they can make us monsters.

Religion and belief are a good thing except for when they are regarded far close mindedly and seriously. Falwell and Robinson blame so many people for what happened on Nine Eleven. They blame feminists, abortionists, gays and lesbians, ACLU, and People For the American Way. According to them everyone who is not living their lives by one set of rules is bad, which is a completely close minded and ignorant way of thinking. My belief is that if you are not causing anybody harm in any way, you are not doing anything dreadful. Falwell and Robinson are incredibly close minded, however, and cannot stand people that do not think like them or live the way they see is right. Making everyone who does not live the way Falwell and Robinson do a scapegoat for the 9-11 attacks is about as ignorant as you can possibly get.

And how does he even know what God wants, he’s never met God or seen God. He has no right to blame the deaths of the 9/11 victims on anyone other than the terrorists themselves. They shouldn’t force religion to other people; they should allow people to make their own choices about religion. Prayers in public schools are a terrible idea. Not everybody is Christian; people have the right to choose their beliefs and its people like Jerry Falwell that piss off the terrorists that attack us. America was founded on freedom of religion and now this guy tries to say we should pray in public schools! People also have the freedom to be feminists or gay or a lesbian. 9/11 was not the result of an angry God it was the result of religious intolerance. I believe that God loves his children and like a parent no matter how bad you are or how wrong you do they will most always forgive you, i think God operates the same way and loves us regardless of what we do. If some of us are not necessarily doing the right thing i dont think God would punish all of us for the sins of few, and if he did work that way he wouldn't punish the innocent for other peoples crimes. God although powerful isn't heartless, he loves all his children regardless of what we do.

Falwell and Robertson seem to be very strong followers of God. Their opinions about 9-11 are of God’s justice for the sinners of the non christian or God believers in our country. I believe that our country has turned our ways from God too. We say we are still a country based on what the constitution and declaration, but both of the documents were based on Christian beliefs. So in some ways as Americans, we're hypocrites, because we say we're still the same as we used to be, but we're not at all. However, Falwell says “I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way--all of them who have tried to secularize America--I point the finger in their face and say "you helped this happen.”’ The Catholic Church teaches us not to view the Bible literally so i feel that he is taking the whole thing too literally and needs to calm down some. Everything happens for a reason and maybe it wasn't God's wrath and maybe it was God saying we need to take a reality check and make sure we're following what we're supposed to do for Him.

Wow, where to start, I completely disagree with these men on their views of why 9/11 happened. This was a very tragic event in America, but I do not feel that this was God’s way of punishing us. I do not believe that God would kill thousands of people just to “get back” at American society; I feel that these men are very farfetched in their views of that day. The people who have had abortions, who have become gay or lesbian, or who have become activists for the ACLU had absolutely nothing to do with the attack on the World Trade Center. Those people did not plan the attacks, nor were they involved in carrying them out. This attack on these people is outrageous and is shocking to most people. The humans in the three above categories have indefinitely all been affected by this attack, I have no doubt in my mind that they have been hurt by a family member or loved one dying in the attack. However, maybe God did plan this, maybe this dates back to the days of the founding fathers of our religion shoo – ing Ishmael away to start Islam. Maybe God doesn’t agree with our views, maybe WE are all wrong.

In my opinion the Falwell and Robertson speak heavily on very touchy subjects. In my opinion I disagree with them because what they basically say is that God made 9/11 happen as a form of punishment for allowing gays, lesbians and abortions to occur. I disagree because I believe that God is someone who loves all people even beyond their faults. Also, God would not punish a whole nation for the actions of few people. God would never purposely kill innocent people by the hands of others.

I agree with both Falwell and Robertson about how God can be punishing and how God continues to lift the curtain and allow the enemies of America to give us probably what we deserve. But I disagree with with how Falwell and Robertson can say that the gays, abortionist, the feminist, and the lesbians helped caused with what happen on the day of 9/11 because I think all men and women should have equal rights and privileges and that they can live their life however they want to. Also Im with the ACLU for fighting to keep prayer out of public schools but I don't see how they can be seen as enemies of God by Falwell and Robertson. I beilieve that kids should go to private schools or catholic schools if they want to be in a environment where they can pray and pratice their religion. In the end I believe in God and a punishing God and I dont think people can be the reason for death or destroying places because of how they live their life and their faith.
