Senior Analytical Essay—final instructions
Assignment: Write a three to four page, five-paragraph analytical essay on a short story of your choice
Format: use MLA style (heading, title, double-spaced, numbered pages using a MLA style header)
Special instructions: In your first paragraph, circle your central idea (with a pen or pencil). Underline your thesis statement. If you combine these two items into one sentence, then merely underline that one sentence.
Underline your topic sentences in your body paragraphs. It is best to begin body paragraphs with topic sentences.
Due date: February 24—if you are absent on this day, you must submit the paper to me by e-mail
Special notes
Integrate quotations by providing the context first (supply who is talking, what is going on, what the issue is under discussion), then the quotation, and finally your analysis.
NEVER “drop” a quotation into the text as a stand-alone sentence.
Provide smooth transitions from sentence to sentence by using transitional expressions (furthermore, next, on the other hand, etc.), pronouns (this, that, these, those), and repeating key words and phrases from the previous sentence.Refer to the sample essays in your literature book as models.
Do not use any outside sources. Doing so will result in a grade of zero for plagiarism.

My favorite work of art is the "Seven Ancient Wonders" by Matthew Reilly. This book and the rest of the series is great for the any fan of a thriller. In the "Seven Ancient Wonders"; Jack West, a former U.S. soldier, professor Maximillian, a brilliant scientist, Lily, the daughter of an Oracle, and a group of other trained specialists from other small countries try to stop the world’s super powered continents from taking over the world through an ancient ritual. I like this book because I love all type of thriller books and there is plenty of that in this book. I also like the unique story line. When I read this book;and the rest of the series, I was unable to put it down. I got hooked on these books right when my friend gave me the books to read last year. I usually don’t read books for enjoyment, but I read each of these books in a month. Probably the fastest I have ever read a series. With action and excitement at evry page and a great and easy plot to follow, this book will be my favorite for a while and is the best book that I have ever read.
