Soph Yellow Class-Vocab Unit 1


Post (before class on Tuesday) five sentences using five different vocabulary words correctly, giving a clue to the meaning of the word within your sentence.

Of course, identify yourself according to your initials.

e.g. Finding strength in numbers, we formed a coalition to demand better food service at our college's cafeteria.

2. Matt interceded in the arguement between his two friends by giving them both a toy to play with.

I read the book over and over again to elicit as much information as possible out of the novel.

I tried to simulate different emotions in acting class but my lack of talent made them seem unbelievable.

His friendly personality soon became unctuous after he kept complimenting her repeatedly.

Being a senior gives you many prerogatives that freshmen don’t get.

The babysitter was soon tired and annoyed from the four petulant children.

Richer people tend to thing that they have prerogative over normal people, but in reality they’re really no more special then anyone else.

The convict had his lawyer intercede between him and the judge because he didn’t want to plead for himself.

For awhile our economy was in a decadence fall, and this decay caused many problems for business.

Technology usually assuages our lives by making it easier for us to do tasks we don’t like to do.

The movie Twilight transcended all my expectations for how bad I thought it was going to be and is by far the worst movie I have ever watched.

I could tell by the dog's tired eyes that it was jaded from having spent all day in the hot sun.

The daughter found it useless to EXPOSULATE with her parents from not letting her go to the party.

Due to the over use of the same HACKNEYED play every football team in the state could see it coming.

Due to the student’s extensive community service the community felt he deserved a MERITORIOUS AWARD.

Is it just me or are the elderly people in our community getting me PETULANT these days always in their grumpy moods.

The teacher tried to SIMULATE a battle in the civil war but it failed because there was never a one-man army.
