SOPHS: Vocab Unit 4 Original Sentences












Post BEFORE CLASS ON Wednesday ten (10) sentences using ten different vocabulary words correctly, giving a context clue to the meaning of the word within your sentence. You will be graded on the quality of your sentences. 

Door Rows should work with words 1-10; Window Rows should work with words 11-20.

Your context clue should use restatement, contrast, or inference (see p.7  of your vocab book if you need help with these).

Of course, identify yourself according to your first name, last initial, and CORRECT section color. The small 15 student class is the yellow section; the afternoon bunch is the blue section. 

e.g. Usually slightly nervous and uncertain, most ninth graders entering St. Mark's are somewhat taciturn during their initial days in school.

1. If you don't exercise enough, your muscles will atrophy.
2. The strength of the military bastion saved the soldiers inside it.
3. Both sides of the court case were in concord that the man was definitely guilty.
4. The perfectionist could never consummate anything she did, so she was always very frustrated with anything that had the smallest imperfections.
5. The dog left the living room in disarray, so the owners were very angry when they arrived home.
6. Poor families in other third-world countries have a lot of exigency for basic needs such as food and water.
7. The flotsam of the wrecked ship made the water unclear, so the fisherman had a hard time seeing the fish swimming in the water.
8. The rabid fox became frenetic, and it ran around the woods yelping and biting everything in sight.
9. Information on a research paper is gleaned from other sources, such as websites and books.
10. Kids who grouse about not getting what they want are usually spoiled and get their way most of the time.

We incarcerate our cat by locking him up in the dark bathroom every time he tries to bite us.

Going to school is an incumbent activity in the lives of everyone who wants to reach his or her fullest potential.

Oftentimes, my jocular remarks are inaccurately perceived as rude.

"My homework is in my friend's locker," was one of the most ludicrous excuses I told Ms. Bee last year in geometry.

She got so frustrated by the mordant comments from her peers after she gave her speech, she ran out of the room crying.

Some days I am so nettled that I cannot interact with other people for everyone's wellbeing.

Without a substantial scholarship, pecuniary concerns are a great factor in choosing a college to attend.

Because he didn't want to come off as pusillanimous, or cowardly, Hamilton accepted the duel with Burr.

I often feel like people who ride recumbent bicycles on busy roads will get run over due to their reclined position so close to the ground, even if they have a flag.

Students think they can get away with a stratagem like changing a few words on other people's homework and turning it is their own to gain full credit, but teachers can see through their tricks.

A man who was charged with murder was incarcerated into a prison on an island for the rest of his life. 
All of the basketball players at St. Mark's had to attend the incumbent meeting or else they couldn't try out for the team. 
When Matt is with his friends he acts in a jocular mood beacuse he likes to make them laugh. 
After getting yelled at by the teacher, the student made a ludicrous comment which got him sent to the principle's office. 
The bully made a mordant comment to the innocent kid which caused the kid to get upset. 
In the summer time the gnats nettle me to the point where I just have to walk inside my house and not go back outside. 
Since the family was under pecuniary conditions they had to take their kid out of a private school and move them to a public school. 
The pusillanimous yelling by the coach to the kid made him quit and play another sport with a nicer coach. 
When people go to the beach they take our their beach chairs and go into a recumbent position to take a break. 
The other team's coach would scoat other teams to gain a stratagem so they knew what the team was like before they played them.

16. When the girl was pricked by a nettle, she was immediately taken to the nurse to relieve the harsh singing.
17. They chose carpet instead of hardwood floors for pecuniary reasons.
18. The teacher was pusillanimous and made rude, sarcastic to his students.
19. When exhausted or sick, it best to lie down in a recumbent position.
