1. abject- The man who was thought to be a courageous hero in the beginning of the story revealed his abject cowardice when in a tight situation.
2. agnostic- Joe was agnostic; he did not completely deny God’s existence, but he was not surely convinced of it by our arguments.
3. complicity- The people witnessing the theft who failed to call the police were later accused of complicity in the crime.
4. derelict- I always feel sad when I see commercials advocating adoption of derelict kittens.
5. diatribe- Before the man could clear up the misunderstanding, he found himself on the receiving end of one of his wife’s infamous diatribes.
6. effigy- Although it was a poorly made figurine burning in the bonfire, the dictator recognized it as a blasphemous effigy of himself.
7. equity- In order to keep a feeling of equity in the classroom, the teacher had to give cupcakes to everyone after giving it to the student.
8. inane- Sometimes I give inane answers to questions when I am still waking up in the morning.
9. indictment- After the true culprit had been revealed, the detective apologized to the suspect for his indictment.
10. indubitable- Although there is some debate over who exactly started the fire, the fact that is was arson was indubitable.
