Senior journal #1--One Scene With Extra Cheese, Please

Post this weekend before school returns Tuesday, November 8th.

I'll proudly pronounce that no real cheese tastes better than Velveeta, the processed food substitute that to me, outcheeses the real thing. You could slop on that velvety yellow goo on anything, even broccoli, and you'll get my taste buds standing at attention. Put it on a Geno's cheese steak in South Philly, and well, my buds are marching while my jaws are munching.

My plebeian, if not bad, taste, does not begin and end with food. Quote Shakespeare if you want to impress the OTHER English teachers 'round here; I'm a sucker for a cheesy movie line. The cheesy movie line, like its Velveeta metaphorical counterpart, isn't REAL, but boy is it GOOOOOOD.

Come on. Admit it. When you're watching a movie for the umpteeth time, you patiently wait for your favorite cheesy bits of dialogue just so you can smile, or roll on the floor, pump your fist, or grow sad, or even emote a real, truly heartful "awwwww." It doesn't matter that the lines seem so unrealistic, so contrived, so Hollywood. They still work.

So you say you need some examples?

"You had me at hello." (Renee Zelwegger told this to Tom Cruise, in Jerry Maguire) How did this girl so easily forgive the business-obsessed super sports agent Tom Cruise? Maybe it was his equally cheese-worthy profession of love to her, "You complete me."

"No one puts Baby in the corner!" (Patrick Swayze to Baby's dad in Dirty Dancing) Swayze continues to heap on the sauce: "I do the last dance every year, and I'm going to do it again this year. Except I'm going to do it my way."

"I'm the King of the World." (Leonardo DiCaprio in The Titanic) Dream on, Leo. Tomorrow morning you'll still be down below with the rest of the hired help.

Even so-called "real" mobster movies aren't exempt. In The Godfather, for example, a chubby hit man by the name of Clemenza blows out someone's brains and then instructs his gang: "Leave the gun, take the cannolis" (an Italian dessert pictured above). This man has a cast iron heart and a stomach to match.

Dialogue in movies, drama, and prose, for that matter, isn't always very realistic. That's the great illusion. No one we know would ever talk like this, but we also know that we want our characters to talk EXACTLY like this.

Good dialogue may sometimes get a little cheesy, but at least it is NOT ordinary. To me, the trick is to write extraordinary, fascinating, or at least, interesting dialogue, and make it SEEM entirely natural for the situation. The pros, in any profession, make the difficult look easy: Albert Pujols hits a home run like Luciano Pavorotti used to hit the high notes--easy.

When you read, watch drama, film, or TV, listen carefully to the dialogue and then think about its purpose within its scene. It creates character, conflict, dramatic tension, moves the plot along, or makes us laugh, cry, and get angry. It sounds real although we know it's completed fabricated. F. Scott Fitzgerald once said that all fiction is about character, but to me, it's dialogue that makes or breaks a good story.

Assignment: Tell me your favorite movie lines, their cinematic origins, their speakers, and why you love them so much in 25 blog lines or 200 words or more. Your writing can be heavy on the cheesy lines and light on the explanation or vice-versa, but I don't want mere lists.

1. Does this count as annoying? (puckles her cheeks) Agnes says this line in Despicable me. This line I found extremely funny because her newly adopted father has just established rules, stating NO annoying noises, and she asks if the noise she makes is annoying. This shows how silly and young she is. Agnes is only a five-year old girl who wants to play and have fun, so when she says this line and makes the noise, you cannot help but to laugh at her and her cuteness.
2. Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up again, but life goes on Fred Jung says this line in the move Blow. I love this quote because it shows you the harsh reality of life even though every single person knows it. This movie has many memorable quotes that make you think about life but this one stands out the most. It shows you that everyone get’s down and you always feel as if you’ll never come up again, but your life will continue on and you’ll always make it through. My favorite part about this quote is when it talks about being up. Everyone spends their life working so hard to accomplish major goals that they and other people want them to, but when it’s all said and done they are sometimes disappointed in what they see. No one ever really stops to enjoy life while they’re living it, they’re all so focused on the end result. This quote has shown me to slow down and enjoy every step of my journey called life.
3. [examining the map] Up is down. That's just maddeningly unhelpful. Why are these things never clear? Jack Sparrow says this line during Pirates of the Caribbean at Worlds End. Throughout the entire four movies Jack is always saying witting, funny lines that make you laugh and sometimes wonder what he’s saying. This line however I loved because I feel like it applies to my life. When I heard jack say this line I laughed so hard because his facial expression was perfect. He turned away from the map and looked completely confused. Most of the time with my school work and sometimes with relationships and things in my life I feel completely confused. I wish that things could just be completely clear and easy to understand. I hate the feeling I have a disorganized life and being confused with my schoolwork only stresses me out more. So, this line was extremely funny for me.
4. C'mon. Let's go see how much we're going for on eBay Hamm the pig in Toy Story Three says this line. I laughed at this line because it takes away from the sadness of Andy giving away his toys when he leaves for college but also ties in today’s society selling anything on eBay to make money. It was cute to hear her say this because she was facing the reality of her situation by becoming interested in how much she could make off of herself. The toys throughout the entire movie make cute witty comments like this one.
5. All right, All right calm down…it’s hot outside. Lotterman in the Rum Diary says this line to Paul Kemp when he becomes heated about a topic he wrote about for their newspaper. When I watched this movie recently my sister and I died laughing at this line because it shows how Lotterman doesn’t even care that Paul is in his face yelling about something so little, he’s more concerned that it’s hot outside. Lotterman is not your ideal boss and

Of course when I think of my favorite movie quotes, about 10 different quotes pop into my head, all from the same movie, my favorite movie of all time, Finding Nemo. First and foremost there is the one line that I know everyone is familiar with – “Just Keep Swimming.” A little blue fish named Dory sang this line. Dory is a fish with short-term memory loss who inconveniently finds Marlin on his journey to find his son, Nemo. Marlin and Dory seem to counteract each other because Marlin is so uptight and stern, while Dory is carefree and clueless. This line “Just Keep Swimming” occurred as Dory and Marlin were swimming down into the darkness to retrieve a mask that was dropped that had written on it the whole purpose of their journey- Nemo’s location. This line is such a memorable line from the movie that was so inappropriate for the scene, but completely appropriate in matching Dory’s quirky personality. She sang this in a song to brighten Marlin’s disgruntled mood and encourage him to never give up. Whenever I think about my favorite movie this little jingle automatically starts playing in my head. Even in tough situations you can take advice from a fish with short-term memory loss and “Just Keep Swimming.”

Growing up, I’ve always loved watching the classic Disney movies. Most of my favorite quotes come from kid movies I used to watch. One of my favorite quotes is from one of the many movies Winnie the Pooh. Christopher Robin, Pooh’s best pal, has a talk with Pooh which leads up to my favorite quote,” You’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think.” Pooh takes this quote right to the heart and cherishes Christopher Robin’s advice. Another favorite quote that I enjoy from a Disney film is from the classic movie Bambi. Even today I quote this because my mom used to make my sister and I say it to each other. “If you can't say something nice... don't say nothing at all.” This quote I still remember and use as a joke around my family because we haven’t forgotten. My all time favorite quote from the Disney movie Cinderella is “A dream is a wish your heart makes when you’re fast asleep.” This quote is also a famous song that Cinderella sings when she wakes up. This quote to me means you should always follow your dreams, because they are wishes that your hearts make. I feel that it is important to follow your dreams and make your wish come true.

“Toto, I’ve got a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore”. This line is not only well known because of the extremely well known movie it comes from (Wizard of Oz), but people still use it in everyday conversations. It has almost developed into an expression, where when someone feels out of place they say something to the effect of “…looks like we’re not in Kansas anymore.” Another quote that everyone knows, and sometimes uses, is “Bond, James Bond.” People do not have had to see the James Bond movies to know this line, and that just proves its grandness. I love it because it’s so short and sweet, yet has a big impact of people. “You can’t handle the truth!” is another line that everyone seems to know, but ask them the movie and only a few could tell you that it’s actually from A Few Good Men. I love this line because in the movie it was used at such a high point, but many people now use it comically. “I’ll be back.” This line is so short, yet so well known (and usually paired by the speaker with a German accent, making it comical). Finally, one of the movie lines I love the most is “Houston, we have a problem.” This line was used in all seriousness in the movie, but much like the other serious lines, it can have a comical side to it when used in real life.

I have seen more than my fair share of movies. Of course, because of this, I have heard quite a few moving (and maybe a little cheesy) movie lines. I went to go see a movie with my dad called The Town with Ben Affleck and decided right after the movie that I would buy it when it came out. Seeing the preview, some might think that it is a simple movie about a group of bank robbers but the dialog is what makes it truly different. I have seen the movie many times (in two different languages) and there is always one line that I am waiting for. Doug MacRay (Affleck) went to prison to visit his father, incarcerated for bank robbing related crimes, before another job and tells him that he would probably going away after this job. His father realizes that this will probably be the last time he sees his son but ends the conversation early saying, “I’ll see you again, on this side or the other.” I cannot think of anyone who would say that in real life but that line does it for me. Doug uses the same line later on in the movie. Lines like that are what makes people remember movies.

This is one of my favorite pieces of dialogue from the movie P.S. I Love You.
Leprechaun: Are you Holly Kennedy?
Holly: If I am will you sing at me?
Leprechaun: Yes.
Holly: No, I'm not.
Leprechaun: Please don't make this an issue. I gotta sing and deliver a letter.
Holly: A letter? What's the song?
Leprechaun: 'Yah Mo Be There'.
Holly: Oh please don't. Just give me the letter.
Leprechaun: I could get reported!
Holly: By who? The leprechaun union?
I like this because I think it’s funny and it shows that she really doesn’t want to listen to him and she doesn’t care if she insults him. Another great movie quote comes from Talladega Nights: the Ballad of Ricky Bobby. It is a bit of dialogue between the grandma and Ricky’s kids.
Texas Ranger: How much more of this?
Grandma: I don’t know. How many more times are you gonna toss me the radio in the bath tub?
I like this because it shows how poorly the boys behave and it’s funny. My third favorite comes from another Will Ferrell movie, Step Brothers. His character is fed up with his mom and over reacts. I like this because it’s really funny along with everything else Will Ferrell acts in.
Brennan: “I swear, I’m so pissed off at my mom. As soon as she’s of age, I’m putting her in a home.”

1.“So it's not gonna be easy. It's gonna be really hard. We're gonna have to work at this every day, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, for ever, you and me, every day.” This quote is from my favorite movie, The Notebook. Noah and Allie are a young couple madly in love, and this is Noah pouring his heart out to her. This scene is one of my favorites because of their dialogue. It’s so cute, it makes me smile, and it’s just adorable.
2."Mama always said life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." This quote is from another movie I love, Forrest Gump. This quote sums up the movie, and pretty much sums up life. It’s a simple idea, but the way that it’s said and the character who says it makes it memorable.
3.“Only kin's allowed in here.” “Alice, are you blind? Don't you see the family resemblance? That's my brother.” Remember the Titans, another one of my favorite movies. In this scene, Gerry Bertier, a star football player, is in the hospital when his friend Julius comes to visit. He and Gerry started off as complete opposites, coming from different backgrounds and were different races. Through the movie you see their relationship form and they become best friends. This quote shows a lot about his personality and his acceptance of Julian as more than a friend, a brother.

My favorite movie is The Parent Trap. I have written about this movie in every blog about movies and here is another one about it. I can quote most of the lines from this movie because I have seen it so many times. My favorite line is when Annie says, “That girl is without a doubt, the lowest, most awful creature that ever walked the planet!” Annie says this after Hallie and her friends completely destroy Annie’s cabin. They put syrup on the floor, feathers in the fan, water balloons over Annie’s bed, and shaving cream all over a girls face. The way that Annie says it adds to the scene because of her British accent and because it sounds so proper. To Annie, saying that was the meanest thing she could have said and Hallie responds with,” Thank you, thank you very much.” This line and scene shows how much the girls dislike each other. Another line that I thought was important in the movie was after Hallie and Annie figure out they are sisters, Hallie says,” I have a brilliant beyond brilliant idea!” This was the turning point when Hallie came up with the idea of switching places at the end of the summer.

1. “So the combination is… one, two, three, four, five? That’s the stupidest combination I’ve ever heard in my life! The kind of thing an idiot would have on his luggage!” This is said by Dark Helmet in Spaceballs. I think this line, just like the rest of the movie, is hilarious. What makes this even funnier is that after the conversation about how stupid the combination is ends, President Skroob walks in and they tell him the combination, to which he says that that is what is on his luggage.

2. “Stop, stop, stop! You’re going to take someone’s eye out. Besides you’re saying it wrong. It’s LeviOsa, not LeviosA.” This quote is Hermione correcting Ron in the first Harry Potter movie. This is a great quote because eventually Ron saves Hermione from a troll using this spell that she helped him learn.

3. “GOOD MORNING VIETNAM!” This quote by Robin Williams (who plays Adrian Cronauer, a new radio DJ for the U.S. army in Vietnam during the war) in Good Morning Vietnam is one of my favorites. This is the first thing he says when he starts his radio broadcast, which is so much different than the quiet, boring broadcasts that all of the other radio announcers at that station do.

4. “Oi! Ten thousand years will give you such a crick in the neck!” This is another quote by Robin Williams as Genie in Aladdin. Just like the last one, Robin Williams’ first quote is a very good, loud line that introduces his character extremely well. Genie is definitely my favorite Disney character.

From one of the most romantic movie of our times, The Notebook comes my favorite quote, “You don’t know me, but I know me.” I feel this quote applies to everyone we should all know ourselves before we should try to invite someone else into our lives. And Noah in The Notebook exemplifies the idea that you need to know yourself first because he had to be strong in himself to deal with his wife’s dementia.
I also happen to love scary movies, which is where my next quote comes from. In the movie Disturbia Kale’s friend Ronnie says, “Oh my god, you've made the tower of Twinkie! Is that in a stalker's handbook somewhere?” This is one of my favorite quotes from that movie Kale is stuck in his house on house arrest and he is bored out of his mind so he makes a tower of Twinkies. It is an ironic quote because the tower gets destroyed by his neighbor, who really is the psycho, as he is trying to kill Kale.
In the movie paranormal activity the couple is experiencing some strange phenomanas so Micah buys a camera to capture the activity. Micah says, “You're screaming like that over a spider?”
Katie retorts with, “Well, yeah... did you go run and get the camera first?”
This shows the funny aspect to the movie, which in the end makes the movie a lot scarier. The audience is caught off guard one minute you are laughing at what’s going on and the dialogue then all of the sudden a loud noise happens. The makers of the movie play on natural reactions of comfort, comedy makes you more susceptible to being scared.

“So it's not gonna be easy. It's gonna be really hard. We're gonna have to work at this every day, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, for ever, you and me, every day.” This quote from the Notebook is my all time favorite quote. Noah is pleading and yet professing his love to Allie after being separated from her for some years. What speaks to me is that Noah realizes that their relationship isn’t and won’t ever be perfect. He realizes that they both are going to need to work on their relationship in order for it to last and in order for the two of them to continually be happy. I also believe I love this quote because honestly what girl doesn’t want their boyfriend/husband to say something cute yet romantic like that? Call me a hopeless romantic, but I’m just a sucker for these gushy-romantic movies.
"This is gonna be fun! We can stay up late, swapping manly stories, and in the morning, I'm making waffles!" This quote comes from the movie Shrek, when Donkey is excitedly talking about sleeping over at Shrek’s “dump.” Of course Shrek is anything but excited about the idea. Although this quote has little to do with the movie, and almost no deeper meaning, I find it absolutely hilarious. I believe the way Donkey says it also makes the quote ten times better. Shrek is some-what a silly movie but the characters are so lively and eccentric that you can’t help but laugh at all the silly things they say and do.
“Sorry I’m not better looking.” This quote comes from 50 first dates. Henry (Adam Sandler) says that to Lucy (Drew Barrymore) after she is reminded that she is dating him. Lucy’s memory resets every night due to a car accident that left her with short-term memory loss. This movie combines romance with comedy and I think this quote exemplifies that. I also think this quote is a perfect example of Adam Sandler’s humor. The movie can be a bit “chicky” but it is also extremely funny, like most of Adam Sandler’s movies are.

One of my favorite lines is from the move How To Train Your Dragon. It's not a classic, but one line that always gets me is "You just gestured to all of me." Hiccup is a young boy being rejected by his father and whole village because he isn't 'viking' enough. In the beginning of the movie all of the people he was closest with like his teacher and father told him to stop "All of this" gesturing to his whole body. This showed how deep the rejection went for this character. His closest advisors thought they were being nice when they encouraged him to stop being himself. This line was repeated at the end of the movie, making it cheesy, when his father told him that 'this' is exactly what they needed, gesturing to his whole body.
Another one of my favorite lines is ridiculously cheesy, from the Princess Bride. "This is true love- you think this happens everyday?" I love this line because the story is so overly romantic and unrealistic. The relationship between the two main characters seems so unrealistic but the dedication they show to each other is proof of what they feel. It's clear that the two main characters are either ridiculously stupid and overtrusting or unbelievably inn love with each other. Regardless, the line shows his belief in the power of their emotions.

One of my favorite movies is A Walk to Remember. I love movies that are based on a true story, and although A Walk to Remember is not, it could be. It is about a girl who is a "Jesus freak" and a boy who is a "badass." He gets in trouble and his punishment is being the lead in the school play alongside Jamie. When he asks for help with his lines Jamie says "You have to promise that you won't fall in love with me" and Landon says "That's not a problem." This is one of my favorite lines because it is so ironic. He thinks he is too cool for her, but he slowly starts to fall in love with her because of her good heart. They begin to date and he does fall in love with her. He finds out after a while that she has leukemia and that was the reason she did not want him to fall in love with her. She wanted to spare his feelings because she knew that she was going to die, and she did not want anyone to have to mourn over her. I love that line because it really sums up the whole movie and it foreshadows in the beginning of the movie what will happen later.

“Gotta do it for Johnny man… We have to do this for Johnny!” This line from the movie The Outsiders is one of those lines that I personally love waiting for. I see it as one of those classic cheesy lines from an older movie that my generation secretly loves to watch. This quote originally came from the classic novel written by S.E. Hinton. Then, in the 80’s when her novel was made into a movie it was said by Dallas. Dallas was the “leader” of the Greasers and took an unstable and impulsive, Johnny, under his wing. Johnny killed a Soc while he and Ponyboy were being assaulted and drowned. After that the boys had to flee the town they were living in. The boys left for a while and then after the realization that it was all self-defense they made their way back. On their way they found it necessary to save a few children from a burning building and unfortunately got hurt badly. In the movie this quote refers to the moment after the gang discovers that there friend didn’t make it, Johnny passed away after being burned severely while saving children from the fire. He died a hero and Dallas wanted the fight against the Soc’s to now mean more than it did before. He wanted to show that Johnny died for a reason and that this fight would be the end of all fights between these two gangs. Dallas wanted to prove to his gang that even though they lost someone it doesn’t mean that they can’t use those emotions to their benefit. He wanted to prove something to himself and to all of his “brothers.”

1. “Hello? 911 emergency! My car’s been stolen! I’m in pursuit! I need the whole squadron, bring everyone! No, no don’t ask any questions, my father’s the head of the neighborhood watch!” Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) states in the movie Transformers. I loved this line because I thought it was hilarious how he was telling the cops to bring the whole squadron to find his car. Sam says this line as soon as “Bumblebee” is missing, but actually the car transformed and left to meet with the other transformers. Sam is a very funny character and this line fits his personality exactly.
2. “For those of you who may not know, this is the final resting place for six members of the 1970 Thundering Herd. The plane crash that took their lives was so severe, so absolute, that their bodies were unable to be identified. So they were buried here. Together. Six players. Six teammates. Six Sons of Marshall. This is our past, gentlemen. This is where we have been. This is how we got here. This is who we are. Today, I want to talk about our opponent this afternoon. They're bigger, faster, stronger, more experienced and on paper, they're just better. And they know it too. But I want to tell you something that they don't know. They don't know your heart. I do. I've seen it. You have shown it to me. You have shown this coaching staff, your teammates. You have shown yourselves just exactly who you are in here.
[Thumps his chest]
When you take that field today, you've got to lay that heart on the line, men. From the souls of your feet, with every ounce of blood you've got in your body, lay it on the line until the final whistle blows. And if you do that, if you do that, we cannot lose. We may be behind on the scoreboard at the end of the game but if you play like that we cannot be defeated. Now we came here today to remember six young men and sixty-nine others who will not be on the field with you today, but they will be watching. You can bet your ass that they'll be gritting their teeth with every snap of that football. You understand me? How you play today, from this moment on is how you will be remembered. This is your opportunity to rise from these ashes and grab glory.” This is the speech from the movie We Are Marshall, spoken by Jack Lengyel (Matthew Mcconaughey). This is a powerful and motivating speech that gets me pumped before many games. Whenever you play a sport you have to have the heart to win and that is what Jack is talking about in his speech. If you want to win a game, you have to leave everything on the field. This speaks to anyone who plays a sport.
3. “Great moments are born from great opportunity.
And that's what you have here tonight, boys.
That's what you've earned here, tonight.
One game.
If we played 'em ten times, they might win nine.
But not this game. Not tonight.
Tonight, we skate with 'em.
Tonight, we stay with 'em, and we shut them down because we can!
Tonight, we are the greatest hockey team in the world.
You were born to be hockey players -- every one of ya.
And you were meant to be here tonight.
This is your time.
Their time -- is done. It's over.
I'm sick and tired of hearin' about what a great hockey team the Soviets have.
Screw 'em!
This is your time!!
Now go out there and take it!” Herb Brooks (Kurt Russell) says this to his players minutes before they go out and play the Soviets to make it to the finals in the Olympics. I absolutely love this movie because it has so many great lines and scenes that you cannot get enough of it. Whenever I hear this speech I get chills because all I can think about is if Herb was talking to me right before a big game. Mr. Smith showed this speech at the fall athletic assembly and I was so excited to watch and hear it again. Whenever I see this speech or hear it I want to jump into the screen and go play the game even though I have no idea how to play ice hockey. It is a powerful and momentous speech that gets you pumped for any big event.

1.“I love you. I am who I am because of you. You are every reason, every hope, every dream I’ve ever had, and no matter what happens to us in the future, everyday we are together is the greatest day of my life. I will always be yours.” This quote is from The Notebook when Noah is talking to Allie. This is one of my favorite movies because it is so cute. Although the lines are corny, I love watching the romance of the two young lovers and hearing all of the romantic lines they say to each other.
2.“Remember, always let your conscience be your guide.” I really like this quote Pinocchio says. From this movie, this is the one quote I actually remember. I think it is a really good quote to follow.
3.“Ohana means family, family means nobody gets left behind. Or forgotten.” Lilo says this quote in the Lilo and Stitch movie. I really like this quote. I remember when this movie came out a lot of kids would repeat this quote. This quote goes along well with my family because we’re really close and do almost everything together.
4.“You musn’t be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling.” This quote is from the movie Inception. Eames says this to Arthur when he is trying to kill the people shooting them. Eames takes out a huge gun compared to the little on Arthur was shooting. This quote is really funny because of the context it is used in but I also like it because I believe in the whole idea of dreaming in something and making it come true for yourself.
5.“Seeing is believing, but sometimes the most real things in the world are the things we can’t see.” This quote is from the Polar Express. The conductor says this to the boy because he doesn’t believe in Santa Claus. I really like this movie and this is one of my favorite quotes from it. I think this is a really good quote because a lot of things that are great in life you can’t see such as love or friendship for example.

I love to watch movies, especially when I’m with my friends. I have a few that I watch over and over again and they never get old. One of my favorite movies is the Last Song. In this movie, there are many funny quotes. For example, Jonah: Mom says it’s because she has PMS. Steve: Do you even know what PMS is, Jonah? Jonah: Of course I do dad, I'm not a little kid anymore. It's the Pissed At Men Syndrome. Every time I hear this I always burst out laughing. It’s so cute how Jonah is being completely serious when talking to his dad and how he thinks he knows what he is talking about. Another one of my favorite movies is Coach Carter. Ever since I have seen this movie the first time, I have fallen in love with the story, characters, and the message. There are plenty of inspirational quotes in this movie but one of the best is “You said we're a team. One person struggles, we all struggle. One person triumphs, we all triumph”. Jason Lyle, a player on the basketball team, is saying this to his coach. This quote has so much truth behind it and anyone who has ever played a team sport can agree on its message. It shows that in order to succeed, a team has to act like a family and not just individuals. Another classic movie is A Walk to Remember. This movie is known to have a few cheesy lines and I love it. I think the cheesiest line in this movie would have to be “Our love is like the wind... I can't see it, but I sure can feel it”. Landon says this to Jamie when talking about how they feel about one another. I think that is so cute and also paints a picture of love in your head. I think every girl would love to have their boyfriend say something like that to them.

Whenever someone asks me what my favorite movie / movie quote is, without hesitation the first movie that pops into my head is Forrest Gump. Forrest Gump, or as I call it, Gumpy, is the only movie that I can basically recite by heart. Although the movie is Forrest telling a story and is mostly narration, the dialogue and acting is brilliant. Some of favorite lines are:
"Momma always said dyin' was a part of life. I sure wish it wasn't... Jenny, I don't know if Momma was right or if, if it's Lieutenant Dan. I don't know if we each have a destiny, or if we're all just floating around accidental-like on a breeze, but I, I think maybe it's both. Maybe both is happening at the same time. I miss you, Jenny. If there's anything you need, I won't be far away." Forrest says this while standing at Jenny's grave towards the end of the movie. I love this quote because it shows common thoughts of everyone. Forrest just lost the love of his entire life and would do anything for her. He wishes that death wasnt a part of life and I think all of us can relate to his feelings at this point. I also have always loved imagery of people "floating accidental-like on a breeze" during life. I think it's really accurate. Because a lot of people do just "float around" and go with the flow.
Another favorite quote of mine is "I'm not a smart man... but I know what love is." Forrest says this to Jenny when he asks her to marry him and she says no. I love this because it's one of the only times Forrest stands up for himself in the movie instead of running away. I can relate to this because a lot times I dont stand up for myself and let people walk all over me, but he had the courage to stand up for himself.
The next quote I like is "my momma always said, 'Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get.'" Forrest says this to one of the many listeners to his story. Even though this is one of the most popular quotes of the movie, it doesn't do as much justice to the plot of the movie as it should. The reason I like this quote is because it's true. When you make decisions in life, you never know the outcome. When you wake up in the morning, you never know whats going to happen. You just have to reach in and take whatever you grab.
Finally, another favorite quote is, "Dear God, make me a bird. So I could fly far. Far far away from here." Jenny prays this to God so that her father wont touch her. A lot of times I find myself wishing I was like a bird and could just fly away. Whenever I'm upset, I find myself getting in my car and just driving - I dont know where and I dont know for how long, but I always feel like it's my escape.
One last favorite quote of mine is "But you ain't got no legs, Lieutenant Dan." Forrest says this to Lieutenant Dan when he proclaims that he's come to try out his sea legs on Forrest's shrimp boat. I honestly love this line just for the plain humor.

Recently, I was watching Napoleon Dynamite on TV. I had forgotten how stupidly funny this movie was. One of the quotes that I remembered being funny when I was younger and first saw it was, “Napoleon, don’t be jealous that I’ve been chatting online with babes all day.” Napoleon’s brother Kip said this to Napoleon after he got mad because Kip wouldn’t let him use the computer. Another quote that I find funny is from Dodge ball. “If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball.” Patches O’Houlihan says this when he is training the team for the dodge ball tournament. Throughout this movie, Patches has many funny lines that make the movie one of my favorites and always keeps me laughing. One of my favorite movie quotes is from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” Ferris Bueller says this quote. I found this quote very intelligent and true. Life is short and sometimes its important to stop and admire the small things.

There are two movies that completely stand out and really caught my liking. The movies are: Taken starring Liam Neeson and Man on Fire starring Denzel Washington. Those two movies aren’t only wonderful just because they have an outstanding story to them, but because they have unbelievable quotes in their dialogue. The quotes of Man on Fire that Denzel Washington’s character, Creasy says are:

1. “Okay, my friend. It’s off to the next life for you. I guarantee you, you won’t be lonely.”

2. “I got all the time in the world. You don’t, but I do.”

3. “Forgiveness is between them and God. It’s my job to arrange the meeting.”

4. “Revenge is a meal best served cold.”

The reason as to why I love those 4 quotes in that movie is because they are so simple, yet extremely meaningful and powerful. Denzel Washington is one of my favorite actors, and hearing him speak those words is incredible. They aren’t just every day movie lines; they’re special and have great meaning to them. It shows how superior his character is compared to everyone else, and that it’s either his way or no way.

Now for the movie, Taken. Liam Neeson is also another favorite actor of mine and hearing him say this particular line was very exciting. This following quote is the one that everyone knows from that movie. It’s probably because it sets the rest of the movie up, which Liam Neeson’s character, Bryan, isn’t going to take nonsense from anyone; that he’s going to safe his daughter regardless of the dangerous obstacles he has to overcome. He’s on a telephone call with his daughter, Kim’s, abductor after he kidnapped her and took her phone. As soon as he hears someone else take hold of the phone, Bryan says:

“I don’t know who you are. I don’t know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don’t have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that’ll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don’t, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.”

He says that line on the phone call with his daughter’s main abductor. And the abductor replies with the simple words of “good luck.” That sets the whole movie, and as Bryan records that whole telephone conversation, he listens to the recording over and over again and got familiar with the abductor (Marco’s) voice and later on in the movie, he recognizes the voice during an encounter with a group of men , and knows it’s him. I love how all those quotes I listed for both movies show how ambitious and driven the characters of Creasy and Bryan are. They display true heroism, which I admire a lot. And that's what makes an outstanding movie, with outstanding and memorable quotes as well.

I think that one of the funniest movie scripts of the day is Mean Girls written by Tina Fey. It is a pretty light-hearted comedy and this is exemplified throughout the dialogue. One of the funniest lines is when Karen, who believes she has “ESPN” because she can predict the weather says “There's a 30% chance that it's already raining!” This sets her character as being the dumb blond.
Now away from comedies and to more of a darker tone, Fight Club starring Brad Pitt has many memorable quotes as well. One being the classic ‘rules of fight club’ quote: “The first rule of Fight Club is: you do not talk about Fight Club. The second rule of Fight Club is: you DO NOT talk about Fight Club!” This was the start of the infamous Fight Club that carried throughout the movie. Another great quote from this movie was when the narrator’s alter ego, Tyler said “Sticking feathers up your butt does not make you a chicken.” This line kind of shows their alter egos and the dominance that Tyler has over him.
Now for the sappy love movie, this is one of my favorite lines from The Notebook. It’s just a narration that the old Noah says when he reflects back on his life. It just proves the love between Allie and Noah and I love how he defines his life by how much he loved Allie. “I am nothing special; just a common man with common thoughts, and I've led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten. But in one respect I have succeeded as gloriously as anyone who's ever lived: I've loved another with all my heart and soul; and to me, this has always been enough.”

There are so many quotes from various movies that are just so powerful it makes me want to watch the movie again. For instance, in the movie Con-Air, Cameron Po says to another inmate very slowly, "Put the bunny, back in the box." This line is cheesy simply because Nicholas Cage says it, but I think it's just a great line to foreshadow a fight that's about to happen. Another quote I love comes from The movie Air Force One. Harrison Ford plays the President who has to fight hostages that are taking over Air Force One. When he kills the lead terrorist, he says, "Get off my plane!" before he throws him out the cargo opening. It's such a powerful statement because it's conclusive and it shows Ford as being a hard-core guy from the war, which he was. My third favorite is from Rocky 3. Clubber Lang (Mr. T) has a numerous amount of memorable quotes from that movie, but the best one is in an interview he gives before the fight with Rocky.
Reporter: "What are your predictions for the fight?"
Lang: "My Predictions?
Reporter: Yes, your predictions."
Lang: "....Pain"
I love this quote because it shows how full of himself Clubber is and that he has such boastful confidence he's going to beat Rocky that he wants to hurt him as badly as he can. Those words are fighting words to stir up some emotion and to intimidate Rocky.

Paul Varjak: I love you.
Holly Golightly: So what.
Paul Varjak: So what? So plenty! I love you, you belong to me!
Holly Golightly: [tearfully] No. People don't belong to people.
Paul Varjak: Of course they do!
Holly Golightly: I'll never let ANYBODY put me in a cage.
Paul Varjak: I don't want to put you in a cage, I want to love you!

This is my favorite piece of dialogue from the final scene in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. I love watching everything from the way Paul Varjak is talking to Holly Golightly to the way she shrugs off what he is trying to say to her. Golightly, the Manhattan socialite, loves Varjak but makes it known throughout the whole film that commitment does not exist in her mind. Holly Golightly adds in, “I'm like cat here, a no-name slob. We belong to nobody, and nobody belongs to us. We don't even belong to each other.” In the movie Golightly lives with a cat, but does not call it her own cat because of belief that nobody belongs to anyone. Paul Varjak tries to win over the heart of Golightly and confronts her in this scene about her stubbornness. He leaves the cab because he is so irritated by the way she is acting. Realizing what she has done and that she has possibly lost Paul, she runs after him. Even though the dialogue is quite simple the way the characters express themselves through these words make the scene what it is.

I could not put a number on how many movies I have watched so far in my life. The weird thing is, I am awful at remembering specific quotes and character names. The only quotes that I really remember are silly things in comedy movies. For example, one quote that I find hilarious and completely over looked is from the movie Hot Rod. It’s the very first line in the scene. Rod’s friend Dave quietly say to himself, “Pools are great for holding water,” as he stares at the above ground pool were Rod will do his some of his training. I think it’s hilarious just because it’s a very simple, yet extremely weird thing to say about a pool. It really puts into put into perception how simplistic, strange and slightly stupid Dave really is. Also I love when Danny McBride, playing Rico, says, “Yo guys! The bathrooms here are nuts!” I just think the dialogue in the movie for every character is spot on and they really reveal the simplicity and stupid of the characters. From the other more serious movies I’ve watch Inception also has many great quotes. One of my Favorites is, “Dreams feel real while we're in them. It's only when we wake up that we realize something was actually strange.” I specifically remember this quote because it is completely true and it also foreshadows the realness of the dreams that they will be in.

The movie Sweet Home Alabama is a romantic comedy about a southern girl who moves up north to get away from her small town, but somehow finds herself back in Alabama with her childhood boyfriend. One of the most memorable lines in the movie is when Melanie says, “What do you wanna marry me for anyhow?” and Jake responds, “So I can kiss you anytime I want.” This is definitely one of those awww moments. The movie starts out with them as children when Jake says this to Melanie, but is repeated again at the end of the movie when they get back together. I like this quote because of the way they set it up. When it was said in the beginning of the movie it was cute, but they way they added it at the end, right before they got married, it made it especially romantic that Jake remembered that conversation, and their first kiss. Another line I loved is when Melanie says, “You’re the first boy I ever kissed Jake, and I want you to be the last.” I think one of the reasons I like this movie so much is because of the childhood sweet-hearts concept. My grandparents met in high school and have been together ever since so I have a soft spot for stories like this one. Another reason is because often times, a girl’s first love seems like it will last a lifetime. In most cases this isn’t true but in a rare special case it is possible and I liked that it was in this movie.

Remember the Titans, in my eyes is probably the best movie ever created. I could recite every line, and watch the movie over and over again. Everytime i tried to think of a quote from a movie, my mind would wander back to Remeber the Titans. My two favorite quotes from that movie are "Left side. Strong side!" and "Your not supossed to be hurt like this...your superman". The "left side, Strong side" quote was said by Julius and Bertier. When the team was at camp, they all had issues getting along with each other, and were divided. The white boys stayed together, while the african americans stuck together. This quote was one night at practice, it was just something clicked with julius and bertier, they came together, and that was the start of the team coming together. Just seeing them hit helmets, and yelling, gets you so pumped up. The other quote, about superman was said by Julius when bertier was in the hospital. It was so touching, and made me tear up thinking about how close the two had become. Even though at the time it was socially unacceptable to hang around with the "negros", they chose to anyways. They were like brothers. It just showed you, how this team had helped the black and white people of this town come together, thats what was so touching to me.

Being an avid ‘chick flick’ movie watcher, I have a copious amount of favorite lines and quotes from different movies. The movie Hitch has a few of my all-time favorites. First and foremost, “Life is not the amount of breaths you take; it’s the moments that take your breath away.” Spoken by Hitch himself, this line is one I strive to keep in mind every day. Another absolutely phenomenal quote from the movie is also said by Hitch, “Never lie, steal, cheat, or drink. But if you must lie, lie in the arms of the one you love. If you must steal, steal away from bad company. If you must cheat, cheat death. And if you must drink, drink in the moments that take your breath away.” How can you not love something so poetic? The final quote from that movie that stands out to me is spoken by Hitch to the woman he is in love with throughout the movie: “Because that’s what people do... they leap and hope to God they can fly! Because otherwise, we just drop like a rock... wondering the whole way down..."why in the hell did I jump?" But here I am Sarah, falling. And there's only one person that makes me feel like I can fly... That's you.” A picture-perfect romantic movie ending, the line that every girl wishes she would hear someday. That’s probably why most people, including myself, like it so much; I’m a hopeless romantic.

"Now, get this, you double-crossing chimpanzee: There ain't going to be any interview and there ain't going to be any story. And that certified check of yours is leaving with me in twenty minutes. I wouldn't cover the burning of Rome for you if they were just lighting it up. If I ever lay my two eyes on you again, I'm gonna walk right up to you and hammer on that monkeyed skull of yours 'til it rings like a Chinese gong!" Hildy Johnson says this to his boss in the play the front page. This speech is kind of ironic because the movie is about Hildy who ends up working during the trial. Hildy was supposed to go off and get married. Hildy works for the Examiner after this speech, working on the Earl Williams hanging. Hildy puts off going to New York to work for the newspaper. I like how he tells off his boss and then gets wrapped up into the hanging that he quits after the situation is resolved.

I have plenty of movie lines that I could pick from that are cheesy, but no matter what the line is I was get a chuckle out of it. Ill first go with the common “Notebook” line where Allie tells Noah, “When you’re a bird, I’m bird.” Now that might the cheesiest line I have ever heard. What does that even mean? Even though its so cheesy, no one has ever used that before, which made it so unoriginal. The use of explaining how whatever he is, she is demonstrates her love for Noah no matter what obstacle comes along. My second quotes is from a movie called “Dear John.” Savannah tells John in a note, “No matter where it is in the sky... No matter where you are in the world... the moon is never bigger than your thumb.” I love this movie but everyone knew this was coming. John told Savannah this line while they were looking up at the sky on his last night before he had to go away in the Army. It’s cheesy but it makes the audience shed a tear because of John and Savannahs corny love for each other. This is a little similar to the “Notebook” quote. No one ever uses the line by saying, “No matter where you are the moon is never bigger than your thumb” because it is so cheesy. But no matter how corny it is, it gets the audience to say “awwww”.

For me, remembering movie lines, no matter how popular they may be, is a rarity. I never really watch a movie more than once. One of my all time favorite movies is “She’s the Man” starring Amanda Bynes as Viola and Channing Tatum as Duke. The story is based off of Shakespeare’s “A Twelfth Night.” In this movie Viola takes her brother Sebastian’s place so that she can play soccer after the girls team at her school was cut, but everything begins to fall apart when Viola falls in love with her roommate, Duke. Things get even more complicated when Olivia, a classmate, falls for Sebastian who is really Viola. As if things could get more confusing, Viola, as Sebastian, promises to help Duke get a date with Olivia. This movie is absolutely hilarious, and no matter how many times I watch it, it never gets old. Trust me; I’ve seen it quite a few times. There are certain one liners that have me keeled over laughing every time. My favorite has to be, literally the cheesiest line in the movie. In the scene, Viola (as Sebastian) is attempting to teach Duke how to talk to a girl. To do so, Viola uses her real voice instead of her fake man voice which scares Duke and causes him to laugh at the same time. Viola then begins to suggest questions Duke should ask to start a conversation. She suggests the ever popular, “Do you like cheese?” Duke then begins to laugh and says,” Um, ok. Do you... like... cheese?” Viola, using a girl’s voice replies, “Why yes I do. My favorite’s gouda.” While she places both hands palm down under her chin. The line along with the action gets me laughing every time. Whenever this scene is coming up, I will shamelessly admit I quote this line word for word. It really is the cheesiest.

One of my all time favorite movies is The Guardian. Ashton Kutcher plays the character of Jake Fischer, a young show-off swimmer trying to join the Coast Guard. He has to impress his teacher, Ben Randall (Kevin Costner), a veteran rescue swimmer. They are at constant competition with one another, and both feel as if they are better than the other.

Jake knows that he is a hot shot swimmer who was great in high school and comes into the first day of training, looks at the record board and said to the captain, “Is that guy who holds all those records still alive?”
The teacher responds with a question, “Why do you ask?”
Jake replies, “I thought you ought to let him know that I’m about to knock his name off that board.”
The teacher turns to say, “Why don’t you let him know yourself? He’s standing right behind you,” and points to Randall.
I think that this part of the movie is very important to setting the tone for the rest of the movie setting up the framework for competition between Jake and Randall.

Later in the movie, one of Randall’s co-workers points out that Jake was a high school swim champ and had scholarships to every Ivy League school. Randall is immediately degrading of the hot shot kid and replies very sarcastically while Jake is in the room with him, “Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize that he was so qualified. I mean, you set records in a pool? That's amazing. I'll bet it was like, what, eight feet deep in the deep end? What if your nose plug didn't work? What if another swimmer had cut into your lane? For the love of God, you could've been killed.” I find this line so funny and laugh every time I hear it.

Later, Jake hears his classmates talking about how legendary Randall is and that he has about 200 or 300 saves in his career and Jake instantly puts him down by saying, “Who cares what his number is? If he's such a stud, what's he doing here?” When Jake says “here” he means in the training camp for rescue swimmers, instead of being out in the water actually saving people, in a way meant to put down Randall after thinking he may not be that great.

Jake Fischer takes a girl out to the bar and she asks about his day. He begins to complain about how Randall puts him down even after he beat all of his records.
The bartender overheard their conversation and chimes in, “Not all of them. There's one record you won't break. [takes a picture off the wall] This is 'The Aegis'. Medical ship. Caught on fire. It was a nightmare; people burning in their beds. And Ben Randall got every one of those people out of there, except for this one guy. And right when the ship started to go down, he reaches down and grabs this guy. He's hanging from the cable with this man's life in his hands, and the winch jams. It's twenty minutes to the base. The man's screaming, but Ben looks him dead in the eye, and do you know what he said? He said ‘I won't let go.’ [He] dislocated his shoulder, tore every tendon in his hand, but he didn't let go. Twenty minutes, just fingertips. You break that record, and you give me a call.”
This line is a critical point in the movie because at this point you can tell that Jake gains respect for Randall. Jake even backtracks on what he was telling his date and concludes that his day was just alright.

At the end of the movie, Jake becomes a rescue swimmer and is stationed in Alaska with Randall. After a couple weeks there, Randall announces that he is retiring from the Coast Guard and Jake is left with one question.
Jakes says, “What’s your real number?”
Randall replies, “22.”
Jake says awkwardly, “22? That’s not bad. It’s not 200 but…”
Randall interrupts, “22 is the number of people I lost, Jake. It’s the only number I kept track of.”
I think this conversation is eye opening for Jake to learn about humility. From the beginning of the movie to the very end, Jake and Randall gain respect for each other as swimmers and as men.

“Our love is like the wind… I can’t see it, but I sure can feel it.” This quote is from one of my favorite movies, A Walk to Remember. It is about a guy who falls in love with this girl who he thought he would never fall in love with. It’s a sad love story. Another one of my favorite quotes comes from a different movie called Remember the Titans. “You make sure they remember, FOREVER, the night they played the Titans!” This is a memorable scene when the football coach is talking to his players in the huddle of a huge game. The team was losing and the coach felt the need to step up and give an inspirational speech. The quote had a huge impact on the players and they came out playing fiercer than ever. Another one of my favorite quotes comes from a funny cartoon called Finding Nemo. “Fish are friends, not food.” I thought this quote was funny because the ones saying the quote were sharks. The sharks were trying to become vegetarians and not eat fish anymore. All three of my favorite quotes come from three completely different movies. They are first ones that come to mind because they stuck out the most. I always enjoy watching these movies and waiting for my favorite line to come.

One of my favorite movie quotes is from the movie Notting Hill starring Julia Roberts. In the movie, she is this superstar actress and she falls for an every day guy. My favorite part is towards the end of the movie when she realizes she is in love with him. She’s standing in his bookstore and she says “Don’t forget. I’m just a girl standing in front of a boy...asking him to love her.” I love this because here is this huge star, yet when she says that she’s putting herself in everyone else’s shoes because love is love it doesn’t matter who you are. Another favorite of mine comes from the movie A Cinderella Story starring Hillary Duff. In this movie, Hillary Duff plays the not so fortunate step-daughter of her late father’s spouse. Before her father died, he would always say to her, “Never let the fear of striking out, keep you from playing the game.” This quote is great because it has a universal meaning. You can apply literally to baseball or you can apply it to life. One more of my favorite movie quotes comes from the movie Elf starring Will Ferrell. In this movie Will Ferrell is a human who was raised by elves at the North Pole and he sets out on a journey to find his biological father in New York City. One of my favorite parts is before Buddy the Elf (Ferrell) leaves the North Pole and Santa gives him tips. Santa tells him that parents shop for the kids’ gifts and Buddy responds “What about Santa’s cookies? I suppose parents eat those too?” This reveals a lot about Buddy’s character and how naive he is.

In general, remembering movie quotes is actually pretty difficult to me. I tend to forget memorable quotes until others mention them at another point in time. However, when I watched We Are Marshall for the first time a few years ago, some quotes stuck with me. One is when Coach Jack Lengyel is talking to the new team at the burial sites of six unknown teammates. He’s mentioning that although the team they’re playing is much better than them, that Marshall still has a chance. “They don't know your heart. I do. I've seen it. You have shown it to me. You have shown this coaching staff, your teammates. You have shown yourselves just exactly who you are in here. When you take that field today, you've got to lay that heart on the line, men. From the souls of your feet, with every ounce of blood you've got in your body, lay it on the line until the final whistle blows. And if you do that... if you do that, we cannot lose. We may be behind on the scoreboard at the end of the game but if you play like that we cannot be defeated.” I love this quote because of how true it is. In any sport, if you work your heart out and put all your effort into what needs to be done, then you’re a winner. You tried your absolute best, and worked till the finish. The fact that you put your all into the sport and couldn’t do anymore means that you won inside, even if the score doesn’t show that. As an athlete, this is one of my quotes I live and train by. I know that if I couldn’t do anymore, or work any harder, and then I couldn’t be defeated because I overcame the pain, and want to stop. I was dedicated enough, and that’s what this quote means to me. That’s why I love this quote so much.

Another quote from the movie is, “From the ashes we rose..." It was a quote narrated and written at the very end of the movie describing what happened. I love this quote because of the initial and potential meaning behind it. I love that after the new football team lost numerous games, they slowly started winning games, championships, and started rising from the ground. They were at nothing when the team had passed away in the plane crash. They were just ashes in the ground. So when they started becoming a great team, they rose. They overpowered those who wanted to end the football program at Marshall University. They came together to prove to everyone that Marshall was still united and would recover from this tragic accident. Throughout the movie, and situation, Marshall as a school and the town around it grew from the ground and rose up to be what it is today. The quote is so symbolic to those who have bad days, bad situations, or just bad luck. It shows that you can get through anything if you set your mind to it and that’s why I love the quote so much. It’s an inspiring quote in my book.

“I’m sorry that people are so jealous of me but I can’t help it that I’m so popular.” The quote is said in the movie Mean Girls. The movie is about a girl who moves to America from Africa and attends a new high school. She is soon invited into the popular group of girls. This quote is said by Gretchen who is one of the popular girls. This quote shows how shallow Gretchen is and how she thinks everyone loves her when people really don’t even like her. “What’s going on? Why aren’t you seizing the boy?” “I have a big head and little arms. I’m just not sure how well this plan was thought through. Master?” This quote is said in the movie Meet the Robinsons. It is about an orphan boy, Lewis, who travels to the future and tries to stop a guy wearing a bowler hat from ruining the future. This particular quote is said by the bowler hat guy to a t-rex dinosaur that he orders to capture Lewis (the main character). The quote shows how the bowler hat guy is not very good at coming up with plans that work. In conclusion, no matter what movie someone’s favorite quote is in, the quote reveals something about the characters.

Dory: "Hey Mr. Grumpy Gills... When life gets you down do you wanna know what you gotta do?"
Marlin: "I don't wanna know what you gotta do."
Dory: "Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming. What do we do? We swim, swim."

I absolutely love this quote from Finding Nemo! It describes Dory and Marlin’s personalities perfectly. Throughout the movie, Dory is so laid back and carefree. She is one of those “go with the flow” type characters. She doesn’t like to plan ahead; rather she deals with situations as they arise. Dory is also always looking at the positive side of things. She takes what she can get, and moves on. Marlin on the other hand is the complete opposite. He is so pessimistic about everything! He is always searching for the negative. Nothing is ever good enough for him. Something has to be wrong. If nothing is wrong, he will find something. I think a lot can be taken from this quote. Most importantly, when life gets you down keep moving forward. Don’t sit there and sulk. You’ll get nowhere. Keep your eye on the prize! Head up, eyes up, chest up, and good things will happen.

Dale: [to parents] Can we turn our beds into bunkbeds?
Brennan: [pleading] It'll give us so much extra space in our room to do activities.
Robert: You're adults, you can do what you want.
Dale: This is the funnest night ever!

I love this quote from Stepbrothers. This is the turning point in the movie when Dale and Brennan become friends. They ask their parents if they can rearrange their bedroom, so they can create more space, and play all night long. Keep in mind that these two are grown men… This quote takes me back to my childhood days. Growing up, I always shared a room with either Courtney or Haley. I remember when my mom would send us to our rooms, and we’d shut the door. We had two twin beds lined up next to each other with a nightstand in between. We used hang blankets from our beds and make a big tent. Then we’d play underneath of it. We always brought our flashlights down because we thought we were so cool and sneaky. Good times… Our mom sent us to our room for punishment when really it was just another opportunity to play.

Why are you trying so hard to fit in when you were born to stand out?
- From the movie "What A Girl Wants"

In this movie, Amanda Bynes, sets off overseas to meet her father for the very first. She learns that her father is a wealthy British politician running for office. Her character changes the way she acts and dresses, so that it will be pleasing to the press. While in London, she meets this boy, and he notices these big changes. He becomes very upset. He is missed the old her, so he says this quote to her.

I like this quote a lot because it is so relatable. We’re in high school now, where kids are constantly giving in to peer pressure. Kids want to act a certain way, look a certain way so they can fit in with the “popular” people. Well, what makes the popular people so popular? Just be you. Do your own thing. God made you the way you are for a reason. He didn’t make you like somebody else. He made you you.

We all have one movie that we can watch a thousand times, and never get tired of it. For me that movie is Sweet Home Alabama. The main characters in the movie are Melanie, played by Reese Witherspoon, and Jake, who is played by Josh Lucas. They have been together since they were about seven years old. My favorite lines in this movie are when Jake asks Melanie, “What do you want to marry me for anyway?’ and Melanie answers, “So I can kiss you anytime I want.” These lines are first spoken when Melanie and Jake are kids. They are on the beach in lightening storm. These lines are spoken again at the end of the movie when Melanie is trying to win Jake back. Jake is on the beach during a storm and they say these lines again and they get happily married at the end. These are my favorite lines because they are romantic. They are cheesy but believable. The lines are very memorable even only after the first time you watch the movie. The whole situation of when the lines are said are not very realistic, but it fits in well with the plot of the movie. After watching this movie a thousand times, I still get excited for the end of the movie when Melanie says those words to Jake. They never get old.

One of my favorite movie quotes is “ The lion fell in love with the lamb” in the movie Twilight. It basically talks about how his love is forbidden, Edward isn’t supposed to love Bella because he is a vampire and she is a human and she is usually his prey. It kind of eludes to Romeo and Juliet in a way because there love was forbidden too. It shows that their love is strong enough that they will go great lengths to be with each other no matter what the consequence is. Another one of my favorite quotes is “ Say Hello to my Little Friend “. Tony Montana says this when he pulls out his huge gun and starts shooting everybody when they charge into his house. He takes out a lot of them. He eventually gets killed in the end. He shows that he doesn’t care about anybody or his own life, he is going to live life how he wants to live and that is it. My other favorite quote is “ if you’re a bird I’m a bird” in The Notebook. He is saying that he will do anything for her no matter what.

My all time favorite movie is The Blindside. This is a movie about a white family who takes in a black boy who is a star athlete. Leigh Ann is the mom of the family and while out to lunch with her friends, one of her frieds says" I think what you are doing is so great, to open up your home to him. Honey you are changing that boy's life." Her reply is
" No,he is changing my life." This is one of my favorite quotes from the movie. Most people think that Michael's life is being changed by living with the Tuohy family but what they don't realize is that the Tuohy family is also being affected by Michael. My second favorite move is Crazy Stupid Love. I just recently watched this and it has become one of my favorites. The quote from this movie is spoken by Cal who is getting divorced from his wife Emily, he says "I'm so mad at you. I'm really mad at you for what you did. But I'm mad at myself too. Because I should not have jumped out of that car - I should have fought for you. Because you fight for your soul mates." This quote is towards the end of movie when Emily and Cal realize that they both did something stupid. She cheated on Cal and he didn't fight for her. In the end they both want to not get divorced and stay together. Another dialogue from this movie is Cal: "Who told you that Emily and I are getting divorced?"
Cal's Boss: "Amy heard you crying in the bathroom - we all thought it was cancer."
Cal: "Oh...."
Cal's Boss: "Thank God, man..." (laughing)
Cal: (laughs) "Yeah, just my relationship..."

This dialogue is just funny and not at all serious. It gave me a good laugh because the people at his work started cheering when they found out that he didn't have cancer and was just getting a divorce.

1."It wasn't over for me, it still isn't over!" (Ryan Gosling runs over and kisses Allie in The Notebook) Noah is a man in love and he reveals his true love for Allie during this scene in the movie. If only real life could be like this.
2.“You, Mini-Man, takin' on the jellies. You've got serious thrill issues, dude.” (Crush says to Marlin in Finding Nemo) A sea turtle who is laid back teaches Marlin to let kids experience life for themselves. Crush helped Marlin travel the EAC to find his son Nemo. Crush is my favorite character in the movie and I love his personality.
3.“You know, if my dog was as ugly as you, I'd shave his butt and tell him to walk backwards” (Ham Porter says this to one of the batters during the baseball game in the movie The Sandlot) In this scene a group of kids are playing a game against their rivals. I love everything about this movie and have seen it one hundred times at the least. (One of my favorite movies of all time).
4.“Man I just gave your momma a piggy-back ride and she weighs twice as much as I do!” (Louie Lastik from Remember the Titans says this to Petey Jones) Louie and his other teammates are always cracking jokes and messing around with each other. This is another movie that I highly enjoy watching over and over again.

This quote is from the Matrix, and Commander Lock says, “Dammit, Morpheus. Not everyone believes what you believe.” In regards to Neo being the One to save them all and Morpheus says, “My beliefs do not require them to.” Which I think is just an awesome theological statement if you think about it. Commander Lock is trying to get Morpheus to see reason, that he shouldn’t put other people’s lives at risk because of what he believes, because Commander Lock is one of the few people who does not believe that Neo is the One. But any way I love this line because I believe that what Morpheus said about faith is what all people’s faith should be like. Not dependent on what others say about it. Another quote that I like and always reminds me of the Matrix is said by none other than Albus Dumbledore. Dumbledore says in a postmortem meeting with Harry, after Harry ask if it was all in his head, Dumbledore ends it with these word, “Of course (this) is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?” Which I think is brilliant and fits perfectly in to philosophy of the Matrix. The people in the Matrix experience everything in their head, but it’s still real to them. I guess that since I like philosophy behind pieces of art I guess that’s why those quotes stand out in my head.

My favorite movie, You’ve Got Mail, has many cheesy lines in it. These lines make the movie great though and without them the movie wouldn’t be the same. The whole movie is about two owners of bookstores who are rivals. They meet in a chat room one night and decide to keep in contact but don’t exchange names, address, or ever talk about business or personal life. Joe Fox, played by Tom Hanks, ends up finding out that this women he has fallen in love with over the internet turns out to be the owner of the store he is putting out of business. He keeps this a secret from Kathleen, played by Meg Ryan, and gets closer to her and they always discuss her secretive online relationship that Joe mocks. In the end the two finally decide to meet and when Kathleen sees it’s Joe she starts to cry and smile. Joe walks up wipe’s her eye with a hankie and says “Don’t cry Shopgirl don’t cry.” which is her screen name. Kathleen replies, “I wanted it to be you, I wanted it to be you so badly”. They kiss as Somewhere Over The Rainbow plays and then the movie is over. This cheesy ending ties up the movie so well and pieces everything together, yet still lets you wonder did they end up together?

I am a big fan of comedy movies. Because of this most of the quotes that I am going to be explaining are from a comedy. In the movie Talladega Nights, Ricky Bobbie’s father told Ricky, “if you’re not first your last!” Ricky’s father is shown as a drunk in the movie. When he says this line it is the last bit of advice he gives his son before leaving him. Ricky decides to live his life by this saying, which I believe makes the saying even funnier. Next in the movie Blades of Glory Chazz Michael Michaels responds to a question that he is asked about his childhood by saying, “"Troubled childhood? If you call being a nine year old kid with a thirty five year old girlfriend trouble." This answer reflects Chazz’z personality. It shows how he is a rebel and always no matter what age looking for the ladies. Lastly Ferries says the words, "This is the best day of my life." In the movie Ferris Buellers Day Off. This line sums up the plot of the film. The whole movie is about how Ferris skips school to have the craziest and most memorable day of his life. These are just a few of many quotes that I have laughed at over the years.

My favorite line from my favorite movie, The Princess Diaries, would be when Mia says, “Me? A p-princess? Shut up!” She says this line in the garden while having tea with her grandmother, the Queen. This is her response to her grandmother after she informs Mia that she’s a princess. It’s my absolute favorite part of the movie and it always has been since the first time I watched it when I was a little girl. I could recite every line of this entire movie and I basically do every time I watch it. Something about this part and this line when Mia says really makes it so unique. It’s such a perfect response any teenager would have if their grandmother was telling them they were a princess. It’s a lot to take in for her and she just cannot believe it. Even her face and body language shows perfectly how amazed and taken back she truly is of this news. Mia is my absolute favorite character in this movie and that scene right there sealed the deal for me. After Mia says, “Shut up!” to the Queen, it made me laugh so much especially because the Queen took it completely the wrong way, while Mia didn’t mean it in any harm; she was just stunned. Whenever I think of this movie, this is the scene and line that comes to mind. I continue to watch this movie and it will always be a classic to me.

1.“This is it! Don’t get scared now!” Kevin McCallister in Home Alone says this. I love this quote because he is such a tiny kid and is trying to catch burglars all by himself. I also find it funny because it’s a little internal pep talk he gives himself before he starts his schemes.
2.“Run, Forest! Run!” Jenny, Forest Gump’s girlfriend, screams this to him to run away from the bullies at school. This is a classic quote because even today it is used when people are playing sports. It’s a very catchy quote and many people are familiar with the movie.
3.“Alice, are you blind? Don't you see the family resemblance? That's my brother.” This line is said by Gary Bertier from Remember the Titans. I absolutely love this quote because Gary is introducing his best friend/ teammate,Julius, to his mother. It’s a special moment because Julius is African American and Gary never had friends who were black until his team became interracial. It is great because Julius gives Mrs. Bertier a huge hug and makes her happy.
4.“Great moments... are born from great opportunity. And that's what you have here, tonight, boys. That's what you've earned here tonight. One game. If we played 'em ten times, they might win nine. But not this game. Not tonight. Tonight, we skate with them...” This speech is said by Coach Herb Brooks in the movie Miracle. I absolutely love this speech because it is so inspirational to any team and it gets his team all pumped up to play the soviets. In addition, his enthusiasm is fantastic in the words he says because you can almost feel how bad he wants to win.

1) “I shall call him Squishy. And he shall be mine. And he shall be MY Squishy.” – Finding Nemo

2) “You’ve got red on you.” — Shaun of the Dead

3) “You’re killin’ me Smalls!” — The Sandlot

These are a few of my favorite quotes from various movies I’ve seen. Despite having seen hundreds of movies and hearing thousands of movie lines, these three quotes are some of the more memorable ones. The first one quote, from Finding Nemo, is from Dory when she is in the field of jellyfish. I’m not really sure why I love this quote so much, but its probably because it’s something I always liked when I was younger and kept with me. I could probably write an entire blog on just Finding Nemo because almost every line is a great quote. Nonetheless, I still feel that this quote is the best one overall. The second quote, from Shaun of the Dead, is when the main character Shaun is at work and his white shirt has a red ink spot on it. One of his co-workers points out that he’s got red on him. The line is extremely simple and the way the actor says it just leaves an impression. Whenever I think of that movie I can always recall that line. It also has somewhat of a foreshadowing effect in the movie because it happens before the outbreak of zombies and the “red” that follows in the form of blood associated with all the zombies. The last quote that I consider one of my favorites is from The Sandlot. This is another great movie that has its fair share of great quote. This particular quote is when Porter finds out the main character/narrator doesn’t know what s’mores are, something that all the other kids know about and are shocked that he is clueless. This movie has a great portrayal of how kids grow up and what it’s like to be youthful. All in all, these quotes bring back great memories of classic movies that I love and are full of great dialogue and lines.

I know that The Perks of Being a Wallflower is only a book, but the movie version is coming out sometime next year. And these two quotes are two of the most important in the book. So if they aren’t in the movie, I will cry.
“We accept the love we think we deserve, Charlie.” This quote is one I live my life by, as does everyone in the world, in some way or another. It’s another part of the whole “You must lean to love yourself before you can love another” cliché. If you can’t manage to love yourself, you’ll never be able to grasp the concept of someone loving you, because in your head, you’ll be listing off your flaws and denying someone’s love for you.
“I feel infinite.” This is a quote of pure friendship. Charlie, Patrick, and Sam are all riding in Sam’s truck, listening to the radio, and just driving. There was no destination, just an endless road and no curfew. At this point, Charlie realized he is finally wanted as a friend and has friends. It becomes a sort of staple on the three’s friendship. When they feel like they truly belong some place, they are infinite.

Over the last 17 years, I have seen quite a bit of movies. Most of them hilarious and down right awesome. Here are some of the quotes that have stayed in my memory.
1. "My name is Bond, James Bond" - my mom absolutely loves Sean Connery so I have seen all of the James Bond movies with him in them. Another quote I like that he says is of course "Shaken, not stirred."
2. "Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer" – During Hurricane Irene, my mom, aunt, uncle, and cousins watched The Godfather part one. it was suppose to be a Godfather marathon but I fell asleep during the second movie. This quote though, stuck to me throughout the movie because its been said in so many other movies so it was great hearing it in its original movie.
3 "2 youts" – My Cousin Vinny is definitely on my top movie list because of the dialogue with Joe Pesci. He is so funny in this movie and has so many funny quotes that if i had to narrow down to my 2 favorite quotes it would have to be this one and the cross examination of the officer who has the "magic" grits.
My next favorite quote is a dialogue between Shrek and Donkey in the movie Shrek:
Shrek: For your information, there's a lot more to ogres than people think.
Donkey: Example?
Shrek: Example... uh... ogres are like onions!
Donkey: They stink?
Shrek: Yes... No!
Donkey: Oh, they make you cry?
Shrek: No!
Donkey: Oh, you leave 'em out in the sun, they get all brown, start sproutin' little white hairs...
Shrek: NO! Layers. Onions have layers. Ogres have layers. Onions have layers. You get it? We both have layers.
Donkey: Oh, you both have LAYERS. Oh. You know, not everybody like onions. What about cake? Everybody loves cake!
Shrek: I don't care what everyone else likes! Ogres are not like cakes.
Donkey: You know what ELSE everybody likes? Parfaits! Have you ever met a person, you say, "Let's get some parfait," they say, "Hell no, I don't like no parfait"? Parfaits are delicious!"
Whenever my mom and I have a conversation we always try to bring in a Shrek quote like the one above or a different one from the movie, but this one is our go-to quote.

Growing up movies that have always been amazing to me are the Incredible, Finding Nemo, and Toy Story. One of my favorite quotes is that from Mr. Incredible in the Incredibles. Towards the beginning of the movie he says, "No matter how many times you save the world, it always manages to get back in jeopardy again. Sometimes I just want it to stay saved, you know?" It's comical that a super hero that loves fighting crime and almost needs it says that he just wants it to be saved sometimes. Later in the movie all he wants to do is fight crime, when super heroes are banned. Another one of my favorite quotes comes from Finding Nemo and Marlin, a great white shark, says it. "I am a nice shark, not a mindless eating machine. If I am to change this image, I must first change myself. Fish are friends, not food." He tries to become friends with Nemo and Dorey, but as soon as Dorey starts to bleed he cannot help himself and tries to eat her. Naturally sharks cannot be friends with fish, and it's instinct to try to eat them. My third favorite movie line is from a movie called Toy Story. Toy Story was one of my favorite movies growing up. I love the part when Woodie tells Buzz Light Year he is a toy and not the real thing. "YOU! ARE! A! TOYYYYY! You aren't the real Buzz Lightyear! You're - you're an action figure!" It makes me laugh, but feel kind of sad that Buzz hears the truth. It breaks Buzz's heart to hear that he is not the Real Buzz Light Year. These three movies have always been my favorite, and watching them can always bring a smile to my face.

"Man, I see in fight club the strongest and smartest men who've ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see squandering. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off." this quote is said by Brad Pitt's character, Tyler Durden, in the movie Fight Club. I like this quote because it is real. It mentions how nothing special happened in our generation. That is, nothing that will go down in history books that future kids will learn from. The quote is basically saying that our generation as a whole is nothing. It does talk about how we are nothing, but we could be something. However, society has our minds warped so that we do not do what is right for us and for the improvement and growth of ourselves and the other people around us. Instead the media and society has us doing what they want us to do in order to make us money. Another reason I like this quote in the movie is because of the way that Brad Pitt delivers the lines. It shows how manipulative his character in the film is and how easy it is for him to take control of all the other members of fight club. This is probably my favorite quote or speech in any movie just because of the way Brad Pitt says it. The inflection, voice, and attitude he uses, not only while delivering this speech, but throughout the whole movie is just amazing. Fight Club is a great movie and if you have never seen it, i recommend you watch it as soon as you can.

There are so many memorable lines, that I love. It’s tough to narrow it down but here goes.
“It’s not how hard you hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.” –Rocky. This movie quote applies to almost everything in life, not just boxing. We all can relate to this one way or another.
“Life is a game of inches…it’s the guy who is willing to die that is goanna win the fight.” –Al PA chino’s Speech from Any Given Sunday. The movie itself was pretty awful but this quote is far more infamous. It also motivates you and urges you to go the extra mile in things and not take the shortcuts. Also that there is a marginal difference between good and great.
“I know you got him picked, I know you got him, but the mans in trouble, I’ll show you how great I am.” Muhammad Ali’s Speech Referring to his fight against Joe Frazier. Again a very motivational speech, showing that even when you’re down and out and everyone is against you still have the strength for greatness. Frazier was the favorite for the fight, and Ali went out and systematically picked apart Frazier’s standup.

I have quite a few favorite movies lines; and yes, most of them are the cheesy, make-the-gentleman-want-to-gag lines. I for one, truly believe that such love quotes are so recognizable because they truly stick out for many reasons. One, it gives us hopeless romantics a little bit of hope in our love lives and a chance to dream. For another, these movies sometimes give us such stories that you are captivated by and drawn in, that the movie wouldn’t be complete without them. And so, without further ado, some of my favorite quotes. The first is from The Notebook (2004); starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams. Young Noah (Gosling) says to young Allie (McAdams), “So it’s not gonna be easy. It’s gonna be really hard. We’re gonna have to work at this every day, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, you and me, every day,” when he tries to convince her to choose him, her first true love, or her fiancé. This line gets me every single time because it gives you hope in finding such a love for yourself. Yea, Allie and Noah went through a lot but even after it all, they still are head over heels in love with each other. Some more of my favorite lines are: “The best love is the kind that awakens the soul; that makes us reach for more, that plants the fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds. That’s what I hope to give you forever.” (The Notebook, 2004); “In my opinion the best thing you can you do is find a person who loves you for exactly what you are. Good mood, bad mood, ugly, pretty, handsome, what have you, the right person will still think the sun shines out of your ass. That’s the kind of person that’s worth sticking with.” (Juno, 2007); and of course, “I hate the way you talk to me, and the way you cut your hair. I hate the way you drive my car. I hate it when you stare. I hate your big dumb combat boots, and the way you read my mind. I hate you so much it makes me sick; it even makes me rhyme. I hate it, I hate the way you’re always right. I hate it when you lie. I hate it when you make me laugh, even worse when you make me cry. I hate it that you’re not around, and the fact that you didn’t call. But mostly I hate the way I don’t hate you. Not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all.” (10 Things I Hate About You, 1999). I guess you could say after hearing these that I am a softie for such movies and lines, but who isn’t? I really believe that if a person knows quotes from a movie by heart, than the person truly believes and feels the story; which is the case with me, and all of those movies above.

One of my all time favorite quotes came from HBO’s Spartacus: Blood and Sand. Spartacus is the speaker and he’s talking to his former boss known as a “dominus”, who is a trainer of gladiators in ancient Rome, who killed his wife in secret so Spartacus would fight with nothing holding him back. “What would you do, to hold your wife again? To feel the warmth of her skin, the taste of her lips? How many men would you kill? A hundred? A thousand? There stands but one between you and her.”
This quote is powerful because it is the same quote that was spoken to Spartacus by his dominus, and now he is using it against his old master to get revenge for his wife that he had only recently found out was murdered by his former master.

One quote that stands out in my mind is a Will Ferrell quote from Talladega Nights, Ricky Bobby says “.. absolutely ma-am, I would love to sign your baby ...” while signing autographs after his new found fame. It still sticks out in my mind because I can still picture the scene a hundred times over with the woman asking for her baby to be signed. It’s just so unusual and weird that it’s funny.

Terry Hoitz: No, I don't like you. I think you're a fake cop. The sound of your piss hitting the urinal, it sounds feminine. If you were in the wild, I would attack you, even if you weren't in my food chain. I would go out of my way to attack you. If I were a lion and you were a tuna, I would swim out in the middle of the ocean and freaking eat you! And then I'd go out with your tuna girlfriend.
Allen Gamble: OK, first off: a lion, swimming in the ocean? Lions don't like water. If you placed it near a river or some sort of fresh water source, that make sense. But you find yourself in the ocean, 20 foot wave, I'm assuming off the coast of South Africa, coming up against a full grown 800 pound tuna with his 20 or 30 friends, you lose that battle, you lose that battle 9 times out of 10. And guess what, you've wandered into our school of tuna and we now have a taste of lion. We've talked to ourselves. We've communicated and said 'You know what, we like lion, lion tastes good, let's go get some more'. Then we will develop a system to establish a beach-head and aggressively hunt you and your family and we will corner your pride, your children, your offspring.
Terry Hoitz: Oh yeah, how you gonna do that?
Allen Gamble: We will construct a series of breathing apparatus with kelp. We will be able to trap certain amounts of oxygen. It's not gonna be days at a time. An hour? Hour forty-five? No problem. That will give us enough time to figure out where you live, go back to the sea, get some more oxygen, and stalk you. You just lost at your own game. You're outgunned and out-manned.
[pause]
Allen Gamble: Did that go the way you thought it was gonna go... Nope, I don't think so.
This is by far my favorite movie quote of all time. If I was allowed I would have the entire movie on this one blog. This quote however is between two cops who are polar opposites, Allen Gamble (played by Will Ferell) and Terry Hoitz (played by Mark Walburgh). Allen is a careful, reserved, quirky, pencil pushing nerd who has a wild side only when pushed to the extremes. Terry Hoitz is the 'bad cop' who shoots now and thinks later. He believes in instinct and acts on a hunch, Terry also doesn't have much patients for those who don't see things his way. This quote was in the beginning of the movie when the pencil pushing Allen Gamble was being enthused about his desk jockey job while his partner Terry Hoitz is growing increasingly pestered by Allen. Finally, Terry gets up and leaves the room and immediately comes back and tells Allen that he doesn't like him. Terry then proceeds to describe to Allen his deep and burning antipathy for him and what he would do to Allen if they were in the wild. Instead of getting the point Allen out does Terry just escalading Terry's resentment and making one of the most ridiculous, stupid-funny scenes ever.

One of my favorite movies that I have ever seen, and I have seen many, is Scarface. In my opinion one of the best lines in the movie is when Tony Montana says while he is drunk to a restaraunt full of rich sophisticates, "Say goodnight to the Badguy." Before this line he has a whole speech that he gives these people about how they need someone like him. They need someone to look at and say that he is bad. People need a bad guy. They need someone that when they see him they feel good about what they are doing. To say to themselves "as long as I'm not doing that then I'm a good guy." Someone always needs to be blamed and be made an example of. This theme is used throughout many films. Like in the Dark Knight, for instance. Someone needed to be blamed for the terrible things that Harvey Dent had done so Batman made himself the bad guy. Gotham's unappreciated protector, hated guardian, their dark knight. There will always need to be a bad guy.

1. Young Allie: [lying in the middle of the street] What happens if a car comes?
Young Noah: We die.
This quote comes from one of my all time favorite movies “The Notebook”. I love how it shows both characters’ personalities spot on. Allie is the worrisome, do-gooder, planner, and Noah is laid back, relaxed, and sarcastic. The scene that this line comes from starts the two’s budding romance, and is probably one of my favorite scenes from this movie. The line is humorous, but at the same time gives so much insight.
2. Young Allie: Why didn't you write me? Why? It wasn't over for me, I waited for you for seven years. But now it's too late.
Young Noah: I wrote you 365 letters. I wrote you everyday for a year.
Young Allie: You wrote me?
Young Noah: Yes... it wasn't over, it still isn't over
These lines are also from “The Notebook”. These few lines are my favorite part of the whole movie. I can quote them anywhere, anytime. I love the romance behind the words, and how finally Allie knows the truth, so they can finally be together. No matter how many times is see this movie, this part still gets to me every time. Its adorable how in love the two are, and these lines just prove their love.
3. Ruby: They call this war a cloud over the land. But they made the weather and then they stand in the rain and say 'Shit, it's raining!'
This quote is from a movie called “Cold Mountain” that is about the civil war. That’s also what this quote is referring too. Ruby is a quirky, do-it-yourself kind of girl, and hates how the men complain about the war. She’s making a metaphor between the war and bad weather. This line is almost a diamond in the rough during this movie because the movie is very depressing, sad, and dark, but this line is said and for a moment you can’t help but laugh at the humor. It brightens up the dreariness that the movie embodies. I can’t refrain from laughing when I hear Ruby say this in her thick southern accent.
